5 minute freewrite 2789 prompt merchant of lost things

This is my post for #freewriters 2789 prompt merchant of lost things hosted by @mariannewest

I sit here and wonder where time goes. In my mind, it was not long ago when I was in my twenties. Now, I will be 69 next month, and I wonder where the things I had in my hand a few moments ago went.

Where did I put my hat? Has anyone seen my phone?
I set my drink down, but where? Have you seen my shoes?
Why did I come in here? Maybe if I go back, I can remember.
Going back to the other room only works sometimes.

I never thought of myself becoming old and the possibility of needing a merchant of lost things to recover all of my misplaced items, but I might have come to the point of needing one.

Yes, I have thought of being old and not wanting to be a burden to anyone, but I have never thought about losing my memory. I hope that never happens. I had one aunt who had Alzheimers. She was the sweetest little old lady until she lost her memory, then she became mean, she was a different person than she was.

My daughter said she would never put me in a nursing home. I told her if I did not know who she was and I was hard to handle, to put me in one, I would not know the difference.

altogether, I have 16 pineapples

I think if they put me in the garden in a chair with a pot of soil and a hardy plant, I would be happy planting the same plant over and over again.

The ending of your poignant post is so beautiful ... you would still be doing good ... someone would just have to do good and provide you a plant ... before long you would have planted a garden before one day, you closed your eyes and woke up in Paradise...

You painted a beautiful picture of my thoughts.

It wasn't hard ... I see the good work you are consistently doing ... I pray the Lord grant you that good caretaker who will also understand, and let you do all the good you can, as long as you can.

I am not yet ready for a caretaker, but if the time comes for one, then I will need to cross that bridge, but it is hopefully a long way off.

I hope so too ... but here is something I am learning at 44: start looking for what you need when you don't need it ... or really, ask the Lord to lead you now to what you will need then. We pray He take His time ... but it's never too early to start asking.

Quite a reminder for all of us!! Inevitably, if not die earlier, Allah knows the best, we all are heading towards the old age that we don't want to live!! But, reality is different!

Stay blissful!

I guess I am one of the lucky ones, most of my old friends are gone.
I try to keep active, but I do a lot less than I used to.

Wow that's a lot of pineapples. Amazing that they all grow well there. 😀 How do you preserve them?

I feel your mindful reflection. I may not be too old yet my body feels otherwise 😅 Some days I do not feel like thinking of what the future holds.

Happy Sunday!

I am hoping they all do not ripen at once, if they do, I might cut them up and freeze them. They are better than any store bought, they pick them too green.

This year has been the year for me to think about my age, I never did it as much until now.

I am only two months behind you. I, too, forget where I set stuff down. My only consolation is that it happens to younger people, too. I like your idea of planting something in a pot over and over. I think I could be kept busy and happy in a similar way.

My mom cared for Alzheimer's patients for over 30 years, she kept them in her home until their end. If you found something they liked to do, all they had to do was hold a piece of it. One lady liked to keep silverware in her purse, it made her happy.
