5 minute freewrite 2530 prompt the undead bride

This is my post for freewriters 2530 prompt the undead bride hosted by @mariannewest

I miss the days when we had holiday parties like the Halloween party in this photo. I never knew what I was trying to be with this costume until now. The undead bride is a fitting description. Come to think of it that is the kind of bride all brides should be because the opposite would be a dead bride and no one wants to marry a corpse.

I wish I had taken pictures of our setup than this one. One year we made a hunted trail through the woods for all of the kids in the neighborhood. We had huge boxes like refrigerators come in and decorated them to look like coffins, we piled branches around them so the kids did not know they were there. I forget all that we did but at night it looked pretty cool. The smaller kids thought it was fun but then some older ones showed up and started jumping on the boxes with people in them, they ran through and destroyed what they came to.

We still had a nice fire to stand around and talk with friends. We had a lot of good times back then.

This is my youngest sister and her late husband Masher, his name was Tim but everyone called him Masher because he worked in construction and pretty much smashed anything. We named one of the islands in the river Masher Island but now since all the double hurricanes, it is now an underwater bar.

Now I guess my brain wants me to write a poem so here goes.

The ground began to rise
people said it was
The undead bride

They say you can hear her cries
she weeps for her groom
last seen on a bright moon

Once a month the ground will rise
with the cries of the undead bride.
She gets no rest, when
the moons starts to crest.

The ground began to rise
but there were no cries,
from the undead bride.

Her groom in hand
she found her man.
No more cries from
the undead bride.
