Why Web 3 Will Take a Long Time To Take Off

If you've been on Hive for some time now, then you would have realized that we've been sitting at the bottom of the social chain for a long time now with no way to scale to the top.

And this does not only apply to Hive but every other web 3 platform in the world. Even Justin Sun, with his influence as a bad boy in the crypto world, cannot make steem go mainstream.

I believe his first acquisition of steem back in the days was purely to make money for himself, which is achievable by making everyone use it.

How he found Steem back then is something we should try to understand before we point fingers are him. I honestly don't know about all the take-over and stuff that was made as a movie here on Hive, but I would only want to analyze his vision for steem in the first place before he decided to get his hands on it.

Trust me, there are many other blockchains out there that he could have bought, but steem was what he wanted.

If we want something in this life, It's because we see it as something of great value. For example, Elon must got twitter because he also saw the value in it in making it a financial giant among its peers.

The vision Musk had for X when starting is something that, I feel, is also relative to that of Sun with steem.

Although it might be more about the money with Sun, the primary goal to also make that happen mainly relies on exposing the blockchain to the world, and when that happens he wants to be the man calling the shots, hence making big bucks from the whole thing.

Power Of Web 3

Sadly, things never went through due to how much power he thinks he has over the community in making them submit to his wishes.

The power that web 3 possess is also a drawback for it because for you to make something happen, be it a vision, project, or innovation, you'll need the support of the community, which I believe Sun never thought about before buying steem from Ned.

Unlike Elon Musk, who can easily make quick decisions and everyone would have to follow through because he's the boss. That's the power that centralization has and is one of the reasons why X can become what it is today.

If Musk had gotten a decentralized blockchain instead of X I'm 99% certain that the same fate might also befall him due to how he alone cannot make decisions on the go without the community backing.

Either the decision is good or not is not relevant here because not everyone will agree with your plans and visions since they can't see it the way you see it. And I believe that the power that web 3 posses as a decentralized economy is one of the reasons why it'll take a long time for it to take off in terms of user base.

I don't think neither steem nor Hive has a million active user base altogether, either does any decentralized media out there. This is not a coincidence but something to think about because with decentralized power comes with countless power drunk individuals who don't want your vision to exist or have a breakthrough even if It's for the benefit of all.

THIS IS NOT A RANT BUT MERELY AN OBSERVATION BASED HOW I SEE CEX AND DEX IN ANY INDUSTRY, BE IT AN EXCHANGE OR A SOCIAL PLATFORM

The HiveWACTHERS on Hive have been likened to a cult, a cartel, and a gang a scam

On Hive it's essential to create an environment where individuals feel comfortable expressing their concerns without fear of downvotes
