Perez Almarza Boulevard in the city of Maracay, a place where local art reigns

It is impressive when a place you used to visit changes completely. Such is the case of Perez Almarza Boulevard in the city of Maracay, a place that in previous years used to be full of street vendors that practically made the transit of people impossible. That was so for many years and I remember it perfectly well since when I used to go downtown to go shopping it was a complete nightmare to walk along the aforementioned boulevard, in fact, I tried to avoid passing near there since I knew there would be a great congestion of people and vendors.

A few years ago, the local government built small shopping malls with the intention of migrating the informal vendors who were illegally occupying the boulevard and other places downtown, which freed up the streets and allowed them to be free and flowing. Thus, the space was used for cultural purposes and since then it has been clean and tidy.

The Boulevard Perez Almarza currently has a symbolic name called "Calle Memoria Esperanza", frankly I do not know the reasons why it has that name, but I guess the intention is to promote art and local artists. The Boulevard has gray bricks of different shades on the floor that give it a very interesting particularity for the view. It also has 3 star-shaped awnings which are also painted by local artists.

A large percentage of the space is occupied by works of art that are printed on very good quality material, I say this because they are exposed to the high temperatures of the sun and the rains and in spite of that they are preserved quite well. I could not count the number of works of art, but I estimate that there are at least 30 which adorn in a rather bohemian way this space that now looks clear and serves as a place of rest and to clear the mind.

There are also some metal sculptures in which some rust is evident, but it makes perfect sense considering the effect that the weather usually has on the metal. There are also a couple of colorful murals painted by an excellent artist, the truth never ceases to impress me the talent of those who have the ability to do this kind of things.

I apologize for the large number of photos in this post, but I didn't want to omit the work of any of these artists who deserve applause and recognition for making the world a better place thanks to their creativity. It was a pleasure to share with you the spaces of the Boulevard Perez Almarza in the city of Maracay, a place that now looks very different compared to other years when it looked like a busy alley and abandoned by local authorities.
