We all know that Social media platforms have been developed into an effective instrument and tool for exchange of information, communicating with other people in this modern age and also engaging socially.

These social media platforms, which have billions of users who use them on a daily basis, have really changed the way we individuals express our ideas and opinions and it has also contributed to the method of how information is being shared. But the development of social media has also brought up issues that shows us what freedom of speech really means.

Without a doubt, social media platforms have explained the meaning of freedom of speech by allowing people from all backgrounds to speak about their own ideas, opinions, and life experiences to a bigger audience without being scolded to keep quiet.

These social media platforms have provided voice for people who did not have voice or people to speak for them. These platforms have really improved the means of information in our society.

However, we individuals use these platforms to expose corruption, injustice and violation of human rights practiced by wicked people, therefore these platforms have been used to build transparency and honesty.

These platforms have been used by journalists and activists to get and share information that sometimes media channels miss or fail to publish.

Social media has also made it easier for different people around the world to create communities on the internet where they work together, talk, and discuss a lot of issues surrounding us.

These communities give us a place and channel to freely express ourselves, meet new people who also may have these similar issues, and also make us develop this feeling of having a family and people we are connected to.

Although social media as greatly impacted our lives positively, it also has a number of negative impacts that may hinder individuals expressing their self freely even while it has the ability to strengthen freedom of speech.

The spread of false information, fake news, and misinformation on these platforms is one of the most urgent problems and negative impact.

Individuals misuse this platforms by spreading false or misleading information which destroys confidence in reliable news and information sources.

Some Social media sites have also come under fire for encouraging online abuse, harassment, and hate speech. These platforms' identity and lack of accountability might encourage bad behavior, threatening or silencing people who have different views or are members of groups under attack.

The increasing trend of social media companies limiting and controlling the right proofs and evidence is another cause for concern.

Although these platforms are expected to
adhere to their community rules and standards and prevent offensive content, issues has been raised l regarding the right amount of detail of their control policies due to their lack of openness. Individuals attest to the fact that these actions can stop the free flow of opinions , Ideas and information and block different points of view from participants.

I'll say that social media has greatly impacted freedom of speech in our society, Different opinions and ideas have been given a platform to be heard and activated for change, but there are dangers associated with it as well.
