IS HEALTHY EATING BECOMING TOO EXPENSIVE OR TOO COMPLICATED?

Source

Okay, let's talk about this whole "healthy eating" thing.

I mean, are we all just meant to live a life feeding on canned foods, instant noodles and junk foods because, honestly, eating a balanced diet these days feels like breaking a bank, and affording organic and unprocessed foods seems like winning a lottery or jackpot is the only way? It's a good question, and it deserves an honest answer.

So, is healthy eating becoming too expensive? Well, let's be real, sometimes it sure feels like it. You walk into the supermarket like I did last week and the price difference between a packet of processed, sugary cereal and a bag of organic cereal like oats is enough to make you cry and go back home . Let’s all give a thought to this. Currently in this economy, fresh product especially if you're looking for the organic or locally sourced one can really make you go broke or empty your whole pocket .

Those meats which are often hyped to be healthy protein sources, are even more expensive than, say, a pack of processed hot dogs, And let’s not even talk about the price of nuts like the cashew nut which are also said to be tiny powerhouses of nutrition; those ones cost a lot of money.

While that’s a concern, but let’s look at the brighter side. For sure, there are ways to make healthy eating more affordable. You could buy foodstuffs in bulk , especially for food commodities like rice, beans, it will save you some money. Another way is getting organic and healthy foods during their season. In my country, there are times foodstuffs prices reduce when it comes to their season, so you could use that opportunity and buy them in bulk and store them well.

Okay, so affordability is a major challenge, but what about the complexity of healthy eating?
Sincerely for me I think there's a lot of false information out there, and that contributes to the confusion. Today we will hear that carbohydrates are the enemy and the next day, it's fat then it's sugar. Then it's... what? It's enough to make your head spin.

Sometimes the internet and social media can also be a source of this confusion because tell me why you’ll be reading an article or blog telling you the benefits of being a strict vegetarian to the advantages of eating processed or sugary foods. Which one would you choose? Who would you believe? That’s why some people zero their minds and tend to eat carelessly.

However, let's not panic. We can still find ways to simplify healthy eating. Think about taking fruits, vegetables, whole grains daily. Sincerely , I will advise let us all avoid and run away from anything that comes in a box or a bag and has a long list of ingredients you can't pronounce or even know about.

Also, remember that you don't have to become a vegetarian overnight or cancel off sugar forever. Start small. Instead of taking sugary drinks, go for water. Try to add vegetables to each food you eat.
So, to answer the original question: is healthy eating becoming too expensive or too complicated? The answer, I think, is "it depends."

I share almost similar sentiments with you. The hike in the price of food items is not funny. And with most people struggling to survive, they care more about filling their bellies than about eating balanced food.
