The Rise And Fall Of Nations: One History That Must Be Repeated
History is the best teacher since man's existence was recorded in the world. From the genesis where man was created and the great fall, all we learn is to keep the codes that regulate our lives as humans and our spiritual connection to eternity.
In my study of history, one thing I learned is that history always does repeat itself. This is so because man has refused to learn from the mistakes of the past.
I would like to begin this discourse from our home front, Nigeria. In the early period of the eighteenth century, there were lots of rising kingdoms from the south to the north, this kingdom rose to dominance.
Factors that led to the growth of such kingdoms differ, one to the other. While some kingdoms rose through trade with their neighbours, some kingdoms that are coastal in geography were able to spread their tentacles far to connect with new and civilizations. Other kingdoms rose through conquest and that was by far the path many kingdoms rode to get to the peak.
There was the history of one of the most successful and largest African empires known as the Old Oyo Empire. Old Oyo was so large that her dominance stretched into the present day Benin republic which was then known as Dahomey.
In the early part of the nineteenth century, Oyo ceased to exist and had gone into extinction and could not be traced in the map of Yoruba land.
Ok Oyo Empire controlled the trade in the Yoruba routes. The expanse of Oyo became too much that the Alaafin lost control of the vassals. When the vassals began to claim their independence, it showed that Oyo had started to lose her authority. This was so because Oyo tried to control other kingdoms that already had a socio-political structure.
These aggrieved kingdoms staged a war against Oyo at such a time when the centre was weak. This marked the end of Oyo and the birth of new Yoruba settlements like Ibadan and Abeokuta.
In recent times, the United State of America is toying the same path as the Old Oyo Empire, trying to control other democratic states. From the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, one would see that Nations like China, Russia, Korea, Pakistan and the like are beginning to rise against America.
China is already in a trade war with America. They sell quality articles cheaper than that of America. China technology is competing favourably with that of the USA in the global market, an indication that China is not taking a back seat in deciding what happens in the world.
There is likely going to be more free states in the world as every group of persons in a given geographical location who has the same history and culture is free to declare themselves as a nation as stipulated in the United Nations charter. This is what Nnamdi Kanu is agitating for which is backed up by the law.
History is here to tell us that the state will keep increasing as times goes on as much as Nations keep repeating mistakes. The same mistakes that the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics made that brought about the break away of many nations.
This global competition is on the rise. Every nation wants to be respected and honoured. This is the last straw that broke the camel's back and would lead to an uprising for self-actualization.

The Biafra agitation has been on for a very long time and as the world is growing, it's not going to back down
That's an agitation that may change the rhetoric in the Nigerian political scene.
I remember a book I read on how the world system works. And everything happening now was written. People may not realize it, but every little thing happening right now within and between nations are all building up slowly to the next war.
Seriously, these happenings call for concern and caution, else, we are at risk of another world war.
And I am very sure the arsenal of many nations have advanced so well. Some in great nations might think they are safe and worry less, but it won't even be the nuclear strikes that would be the major destruction, it would be after effects; the hunger, the radiation. It would last into generations.
I am personally terrified by international politics at the moment. Instead of heading towards being peaceful and enlightened beings, we are repeating the same mistakes over and over. And it's always the innocent that suffer the most.
Thats the most painful part of the whole matter.
The peasants are always at the hedge of receiving the largest portion of hurts and pains.
