Yo! Hola my fellow Hivers πŸ–

Last June 24, 2023 (Saturday) we had a successful tree-planting event that holds on Brgy. Magsaysay, Siniloan, Laguna. This is our first event for 2023 we didn't do tree planting every summer cause it is not advisable as per DENR so the best season for this is the rainy season, let me share with you guys our experience from this activity.

TP COVER.png

I and the core leaders already decided that we've been going to visit the trees we planted last year at the same location. The coordination with MENRO is successful so we just need to gather some volunteers for this to be executed.

From promoting to social media specifically at the meta and some youtube videos we gathered 79 volunteers together with a company from Pasig City that tied up with us.

Volunteers are from different places and most of them reside at NCR so we
find a vehicle for our transportation and we got 3 vans for them.

image.png

We designate 4 pick-up locations for those volunteers from NCR and the driver started picking them up at 3:30 AM we made it early so we can reach the destination early as well and besides, the event started at 8 AM.

image.png

After an hour of travel, we reached our destination and to start the event we have a minor hike for this. Trekking and tree planting in one lol

The trail is challenging there's a lot of grass and since the rain just stopped it's quite muddy as well the hard part is we need to bring the seedlings and make sure that it was secured when we arrived at the planting area, about 20 minutes of trekking to get there.

The boys volunteered to carry the sack of seedlings while the girls can carry their seedlings to lighten the weight of each bag.

300 seedlings need to be planted 150 seeds for Guyabano and 150 for Narra.

image.png

after that long trekking, we finally reached the planting area the volunteers are dead tired but still, they managed to smile, we started the event with a simple opening prayer, little acknowledgments to all participants and especially to MENRO that guide us from the start until we finished the event.

The best smile during the Tree Planting

Why the girls always have the best smile? Sheesh! 🀩

as you can see, the planting area is not a flat surface it is a hill with slope ups and downs that's why it's difficult to deliver the seedlings.

I can't even smile, I'm really tired (Instant workout lol)

My sandal collapsed too because of the trail, just kidding it broke because it is not original haha (Shoppee's fault) πŸ˜‚
well anyways, I can go home barefoot!

I ran immediately to the parking area to install the tarpaulin and help the other core leaders in preparing the snacks.

The snacks are donated by the company that tied up with us, we are grateful for them.

I should be tired after that event, however, when I saw all of them smiling and talking about their planted seeds it suddenly vanished.

They truly love what they're doing

Why you should try this kind of event ??

Planting trees is a crucial activity for promoting environmental sustainability and battling climate change. As they produce oxygen, which is necessary for both human and animal life, trees play a critical role in absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Additionally, trees offer shade, lessen soil erosion, and promote biodiversity by supplying habitat for a range of species.

It's crucial to pick the appropriate species of tree for your area's climate and soil when planting trees. Trees should be planted in locations that will provide them with enough water and sunlight, as well as where they won't obstruct the growth of other trees or nearby structures. Furthermore, it's crucial to give newly planted trees the essential care they need, including regular watering and pest and disease protection.

We allocated 6 months before we visit our planted trees and we are all excited to see how it grows.

Before I end this blog. I just want to share this amazing quote.

β€œIf you wish to be happy for a year, plant a garden. If you wish to be happy for a lifetime, plant a tree.”

– Jim Morris

This is so refreshing to read! Thanks for sharing! It takes so much time, effort and energy to organize an event like this. The trek, the sweat were all worth it in the end! How long were you able to finish planting all those 300 seedlings?

Tree planting is fun and very productive but yah I deed very tiring because we do that too here in Subic. We've participated in many tree painting activities and mostly the plant sites are on top of mountains.... Haha. The recent one we did was a two hour hike/ Trek up the mountains with abundant rain pouring. It came to a point that we have to fight with the mud climbing up, ending up looking like water buffalos enjoying a mud bath! Hahaha.
I hope all these Narra and Guyabano seedlings will grow so the locals can harvest the fruits of the Guyabano which has a lot of health benefits as well.
