COLT (Cadet Officer Leadership Training): Joining the chosen few.

Way back during my high school there was this organization called the chosen few which refers to what we call the CAT (Citizenship Advancement Training), this company was a small group of unit trained with discipline to provide civil service and military exercise exclusive for the students who are able bodied and willing to join.

Now, many people will say this was a joke but back in the day as we trained we were not just students who promise to do school works but as a unit we function to do more like helping fellow students and guiding bot personnel and parents needed help in the campus.

The training would start after school we do some formations in the afternoon for meetings and drills. We also conduct basic classes about military services that would guide us for emergency purposes that will happen within the school grounds. At first I was hesitant because I was suffering from social anxiety but then my best of friends boosted up my confidence to join with them. I was feeling insecure about myself but in the end I did not regret doing so. In the days of our training every Saturday instead of resting because we had no class we instead go to school for a whole day of training, we would do military exercise by 3 am till 6 am then our kitchen personnel would prepare our breakfast for 15 minutes we manage to get our tummy satisfied to later on continue the day of training.

On this photo showed above this was the moment when we slept for a brief moment after taking our lunch we are wearing our white and red PT uniform. After resting our Tactical officers would wake us up to change in our BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) for drill exercises and class. In the afternoon during the training we will go home exehausted but with the feeling of determination because we survive another day of training.

The purpose why we do this trainings of military drills and exercises because after we graduated the company will serve the community as public servants depends on what assignment given by the school Principal or Our leaders will give us. One example of services we have done like on this picture was to attend and do military ceremony on the deceased general of the Army, he was a well known General and of all the many Highschool who also has CAT we were chosen to perform the military memorial ceremony.

We would also perform a fancy drill exhibition on the campus presenting that we are ready for the upcoming Al Cinco de Nobyembre Festival on Bago city. Few schools around the Province of Negros will compete for the annual fancy drill competition.

This photos was taken by the AMITY PHILIPPINES on the celebration of Independence day which was held on Bacolod City Lagoon Park. Our unit joined forces together with the Police, Army, Navy, Airforce, and Veterans to remember the national holiday.

Taking credits from the owner of this Photo which was taken during our Fancy drill competition, this was the most memorable part of our lives and this is why we joined the CAT unit. What's special about this was the time when we remembered how hard this was on the training we would spend hours repeating and keep hurting ourselves just to execute this properly it was a mixture of excitement and fear but we hold on and finished it correctly. These part of the drill represent TRUST, CONFIDENCE, AND TEAMWORK.

This was last memory we had before we got to college and had separate ways in life. These guys were amazing wherever they are right now I am glad I had been with them for two years the training we had, the bond, and lastly the friendship will never be forgotten.
