Preparing Rice Nursery, Planting and Our Corn progressive growth.
Hello Hive
Its a beautiful Monday morning and we are already in the farm preparing for the days work.Guess what we will be doing today, it's that time when we begin rice farming properly.
It starts with creating nursery for our rice farms and like I had posted in a previous blog we plant our rice grains using two different methods
The nursery methods
Direct planting method
Here is a portion of the farms where the direct planting method was used.
This was planted in the month of May where we got a new species of rice we are testing out ita growth and other factors
Today we are getting started with the nursery. This is often done manually with hoes and Cutlass. We first clear the grasses if there are thick grasses then we use the hoes to turn over the soil before pouring the rice grains.
I have the rice grains we would be planting here with me as you can see here and work is getting started.
On our way to farm we made a quick stop at our corn farm to check on it's growth and if there is need for any work to be done
So far we have recorded some success with everything about the corn. One thing that stood out this year is the consistent abundant of rainfalls, because of this virtually everything planted if flourishing and growing well.
Another thing we have done that has helped us this year is that we decided to spray the corn farm before planting and this helped to keep away the grasses for this length of time. It often takes a while before grasses germinated in field of any crops whenever we engage in such practice.
Having done this if ever we are going to weed this farm it will be just a single time as none of the grasses coming up with catch up with this farm until it grows and matured up. Prior to this time we often weed our farms at least twice before any crop reaches its maturity period.
Is another season of rice farming. I wish u luck on your farming
👋hello, same here in the Philippines. Farmers are also preparing for planting rice grains. It's the rainy season here.
Great
