Happy weekend to us all, the weekend is upon us and I'm sure that a whole lot of people are happy already. Well even though I'm not a 9-5 worker I'm still always happy about the weekend because we have the children who will be at home to assist us with one work or the other

I always find joy in teaching the younger generation how to do some of these farming activities. This is very important for the preservation of Agricultural knowledge. It is not all the knowledge about farming that you will find in books and some are experiencing that we have over the years that are also important for farming. If this knowledge isn't preseved, some foods will likely go into extinction that is important to our lives and health.

While cleaning the pen House yesterday I realized that we are having a very few eggs number compared to what they used to be before. The egg yield has been decreasing for about two weeks now hence we decided to change folw modalities and find out what will be the cause for this.

Layer birds like this are often raised for egg production and it is the egg production that yields majority of the profit for farmers. Having checked all the possible cause of the decline In egg production I found out some of the few reasons why.

There has been a change in the type of feed we hive to them.
For begger egg production you have to feed the birds with some high quality feeds with enough protein and calcium for strong egg shells.
It is only when these birds are feed to the right kinds of feeds that you can guarantee steady production of quality eggs. We have recently changed their feed as our supplier ran out of stock. There are different varieties of feed in the market from different brand, purchasing quality feed is important and hence we now know the brand of feed that is better than the other.

Another thing to consider when seeking for high yielding birds is the genetics of the specie of layer birds we buy. We just learnt about the different kinds of Poultry bird breed, the breed you purchase also has an effect on the quantity of eggs you get. We learnt that the high yielding breeds are called Leghorn and Rhode. One has to be deligeny when seeking go enter into this type of bird raising and production business for maximum yield.

We are just about changing our source of their feed and to seek for better feeds from any location we may find. Today and tomorrow are meant to be the harvest day for eggs but I'm seeing only a few number of eggs which is very discouraging.
