Finding possible natural solutions for our diseases groundnut plant. Groundnut farm is confronted by different disease.
Hello Hive
The experiences we are having this year concerning our groundnut farm is a really poor one. This is the very first time I am coming in contact with this kind of groundnut plant infections every since we have been growing groundnut for years.
Just last week we had noticed this leave spot disease in the groundnuts which first causes the leaves to form fold, dry up before withering.
The most fearful thing is that the groundnuts are in their second flowering stage signalling the seed production phase. Groundnuts produced flower twice before they reach maturity. The first flowering phase is the fertilization phase while the second flowering phase is often the seed production phase. And whenever these groundnuts are in their second flowering phase you can pull up the plant to see the progress of the seeds growing underneath.
Here is another challenge of concern. The groundnut leaves are turning yellow.
The initial sickness was that the leaves are producing some spots, before drying up and then withering
The best natural solutions here is for us to pick up the affected plants and burn them up but this disease spreads like wild fire and has now affected the entire plant in this location. Some of the plants are withering and drying up while some are able to resist the disease and have only of their leaves affected. While we are still finding solution to that we are now been confronted by a new challenge
The groundnut leaves are turning yellow this time around starting from another portion of the farm.
The ground looks apparently dried since there has not been an rain for about two weeks now. Although I doubt if the absence of rain is the cause of all these diseases confronting the groundnuts.
The yellowing of leaves started and spread so fast just like the other disease. It is very difficult to tell if these groundnuts will produce anything while having these extremely yellow leaves. For the other time of disease we were able to pick up some of the diseases plant and burn them up as a control measure to reduce the spread of diseases but that idea is not feasible for this current disease as almost all the farms is affected.
Some plants often experience this yellowing of leaves whenever the soil is not fertile and they are short of some Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium but this plant is a nitrogen fixer and we thereby cannot say that it is short of such nutrient. We are yet to know the cause of this or way out of this challenge.
Unnnn, so sorry about this, learned a lot from here. But is there no treatment for it. Just asking.
wow
