To all my friends and the beautiful souls in this community, I am delighted to reconnect with you all on this beautiful Monday morning. I hope that we had a peaceful and refreshing weekend and that the new week is treating us well.

It's been some months since I joined the choir in our church, and I am so grateful for the privilege of association. Aside from the spiritual aspect, I have been able to make a few friends, and rehearsals are usually so much fun and more like a social gathering.

My spirit has been lifted a lot more than the usual quiet and lonely life I have subjected myself to; besides, music, as the food of our souls, has been refreshing my mind. Truly I have missed out on living this kind of a very lively existence for so long. Within this very short time I have also been able to learn a whole lot about music, an additional knowledge for me. To burst your bubble, I am happy to say that I have equally enrolled in a music school and have been given the opportunity to learn how to play the keyboard. I have learned all the prerequisites and willing soon be purchasing a 🎹 for myself.

Being in the choir has impacted me so much that these days I don't want to miss rehearsals, ministration, and the privilege to reach out to others who are downcast. I have learned how important it is to lift up other people by privilege of association.

Next week will be our Thanksgiving Sunday. And for every Thanksgiving, we are meant to wear a native African print or cultural fabric.

Time is often limited for me, and rather than waiting for the week to begin before preparing what to wear, I decided to do this ahead of time.

There won't be more resources to purchase new fabric for sewing the traditional wears; hence, I had thought about ways to sort myself out.

Rather than trashing this old dress, I decided to recycle it.

The fabric still has some of its colors intact and can still be useful for a few more use case. I decided to get creative with it and follow some fashion principles to get it back to life.

Having cut the front block, I replaced the off shoulder part with a yoke.

Took out some white net lace and cut it to form the yoke. I added the white net you're after, imagining how they will be if I choose to do this color combo.

Next I cut the linings in the same way before I began to sew the dress.

Stitching the net lace to the bodice

I sewed both the front and back and then attached it to the lower bodice.

The sleeves were a straight cut with a flare of the fabric at the base.

The zipper was the last thing I attached and the outcome of the dress was so pretty that I loved it now even more. I had no special design in mind when I started. I just followed my discretion and whatever thought came to mind while working.

Sometimes I like to pen down how I want a dress design to be, but other times I just work with my instinct and do whatever comes to mind at the time, especially with recycle work, as they can be really demanding and you won't know what you are going to do next.
