Hello Hive

A pleasant new day to each and everyone of us. We are grateful to witness the dawning of a new day and we are preparing to hit the road to farm.

I was a little tired after yesterday work and didn't even realized how I had overslept. Today we would be stepping out to commence our rice harvest as we are already experiencing some negative consequences with delayed harvest.

Our rice plants have gotten over dried suddenly and the grains are falling off already. Harvest is often better when the grains are dried but the leaves are still fresh. We have been preparing to begin harvest before now but the rice got dried up all of a sudden and started falling off when we passed by to check on them yesterday.

The Sun has been in the extremely high side and practically every crop is drying up both the ones that have produced some foods and the ones that have not.

For this rice plants the leaves have gotten so dried that the plants are begining to fall on the ground and when this happens harvest becomes so difficult, using a sickle will require that we stay in an over bent and not go comfortable posture to cut the plant. Like I already said that work is easier done when the plants are standing tall

In other to avoid further grains pouring off the these plant, harvest must be done immediately.
Besides over dryness of the crops can give us much work during winnowing as the leaves becomes breaks into pieces and constitute so much chaff among the harvested grains. It is usually not so comfortable to beat off the grains from this dried leaves without these leaves becoming chaffs among the grains. We have all the necessary arrangements made and today we would be putting our sickle to the plant.

Cutting of the plant will take place for a few days then the weekend will be the next time when we would be beating and winnowing the grains.
More hands are often needed for beating and winnowing of rice grains this is why we have pushed that aspect of the work to the weekends when the children will be available to give us a helping hand.

The ground is so dried and breaking apart already as if it has never rained on them this year. This is the extent of dryness and severity of the harsh weather. All of these happened so suddenly causing our farm to dry off including the plants that yet to produce any food.
