My Neighbours And I
Even though the world is a delicate place to live where we can't have 100% trust in anyone, that doesn't mean we shouldn't relate very well with people around us. No one can live alone, we need one another either directly or indirectly.
I don't think any man on earth will say he is self made, he doesn't speak to people as in no interactions at all with anyone and he achieved whatever he has, that's a big LIE! We all need one another for survival.
Neighbours are those that live close by or nearest to us, who can be of great assistance to us during the time of need. Although some neighbours are absolutely wicked their presence in the house is to gossip and wish bad on others, regardless they are there for a purpose.
To me setting boundaries to an extent is an essential feature in relating with one's neighbour. Just because you live close by doesn't mean you can intrude on my privacy at your own convenience or shout my name at the top of your voice because you saw something interesting is not possible. I didn't give room for that at all.
I've created a boundary that I and my neighbours can't go beyond, It is just a way of putting myself under self control. I know the limit I can go into friendship with them and once I envisaged that I'm going beyond it then I will retrace my steps to the starting point.
I love minding my business a lot, I don't interfere in matters that don't concern me but that doesn't mean I don't interact with my neighbours. I gist with them once in a while, gisting always creates this kind of 'entitlement thing' (see finish) and I don't want that at all that's one of the major reasons I rented a self contained apartment so that I will be able to have a solitude time without anyone bothering my life, let's do our things in our respective rooms but once in a while we can gist outside.
Although, I don't know my neighbours deeply like that; their personal life isn't my business but I know their names, have their phone numbers, we chat once in a while and also know their professions even though I don't know where they work 😀 though I'm new in the house, but the information about them that I know for now is okay for the few months I've spent here.
But If I'm not at home and spread my clothes on the laundry line outside they will help me pack it if it rains and I return the kind gesture as well if I'm around the house. Sometimes if I have an unannounced message, my neighbours helped me in receiving it, so I think that's fair enough. So no matter what happens I'm rest assured that I'm covered.
If emergency were to come up in my absence at house my neighbours can be trusted. I'm too sure they will run to my rescue before contacting me.
I live amidst people that are like myself, they like minding their business as well but once a situation raises that we all need to come together they respond almost immediately with full force and I love it. So in any situation I'm fully covered with my lovely neighbours, I'm rest assured!
