Knowledge Of First Aid
First aid is the immediate treatment given to an injured person, it is very important for everyone to know one or two things about first aid treatment because there might be time when an emergency will occur and the knowledge of first aid treatment will be needed.

The importance of first aid treatment can not be overemphasized that's why school syllabus right from primary to secondary school has first aid treatment as a topic in basic science and physical and health education, then where the first aid materials are kept which is the first aid box is also shown to students so that they will be familiarised with it and also know the the usefulness of what they have been taught.
So most times, how to administer first aid treatment to a patient is usually been taught in schools and some special programs so that the students will be able to save life in time of emergency before the patient gets full medical attention.
As a teacher, I've given school children first aid treatment several times but we were trained never to administer drugs to any child. We all know kids love to play and sometimes their play can be very rough which can make them injure themselves, so most times my first aid treatment is on wounds.

In the just concluded academic session in July, a boy at my school fell from the swing. The boy and his friend were playing on the swing and no one knows how he summersault from the swing and hit his head against the steel that's beside the swing.
Till today no one knows how the accident happened, but the only thing I saw when his classmates rushed him to the class where I was seated during the break time was a boy covered with blood from his head.
Immediately, I rushed to where the first aid box was in my class and brought out white handkerchief that was inside it to hold the area where the blood was coming out from firmly so as to control the excessive bleeding.
Then I used wipes to clean his face because it was covered with blood before rushing him to the school clinic for proper medical attention.
When we got to the clinic, the bleeding had reduced and the nurse on duty gave kudos to me for helping to reduce the clotting of the blood. In the long run the boy's head was stitched because the cut was a bit deep then he was given drugs to ease his pains.
Therefore, first aid treatment is very important for everyone to have the knowledge because we really can't tell who will be in need of it. So having full knowledge of it will help one to help in one way or the other during an emergency.
Though I can't perform CPR, but I would love to know how to perform it, but I can help control bleeding wounds because I've been of help at my work place because almost every week the students do injure themselves while playing football, on the swing or while running on the school field.
