Health Sector In My Country
The health sector is one of the most important sector that any country that's reasonable mustn't joke with. But in my beloved country the reverse is the case, the health sector is in dilapidated state.
Sometimes I think deeply then question my maker for making me a Nigerian. Not because where the country was sited is bad, hell no! Nigeria is one of the most blessed countries in the world with natural resources......but almost everything in my country is faulty, nothing is functioning adequately right from her creation.
There are some sectors that don't need any loudspeaker to tell the government about what they need in order to work effectively and efficiently cause they are like the neck holding the head, such a sector is the Health Sector.
But here, if health practitioners haven't threatened to go on strike or speak out aggressively over their needs those in government will never attend to them.
I heard some time ago that at a University Teaching Hospital, a government owned hospital in a certain part of the country told family members of patients to come along with a fully fueled generator set all because the hospital was owning the electricity company huge debts and their electricity supply has been disconnected.
Can you imagine the rubbish, family members struggling to foot the bill of their beloved one on the sick bed will still add the expenses of running a generator.......that's not right!
What of those that went ahead to off all gadgets in the hospital all because they wanted to go on a warning strike cause the government didn't pay their bonuses, killing quite a number of people in the ICU and scores of children in the incubators. It's just so disheartening that ordinary people are dying because of negligence resulting from a failed government that's affecting the medical system of the country.
Recently the Association of Nigeria Medical Practitioners cried out to the public that the ratio of doctors to patients in the public hospitals isn't encouraging that the Medical Doctors are relocating to other countries for greener pasture
.....but who can blame them?...... absolutely nobody...... I will also do the same thing if I have the opportunity. An adage says a prophet is not respected in his own town....doctors also want a friendly environment where they are appreciated, so they are moving out of the country to try their luck at other places.
With all truthfulness, the government isn't trying with the health sector, it's in shamble. Those in government pay less attention to it because they can afford to travel aboard for medical attention so they careless about what it might become.
Private hospitals are doing a wonderful job in catering for people's welfare but not everyone can afford their treatments, it's on the high side.
Therefore, not equipping the public hospital is dangerous. The government needs to do more by paying attention to the health sector. It really needs an urgent upgrade, if the medical system is working perfectly no one will consider the private owned hospital for treatment let alone considering going aboard for medical attention.
Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful weekend 💕
Thanks for the curation
Nigeria is like a circus, whatever works in other countries does not apply here. It is so disheartening how we take things that are tantamount to our survival for granted. I wouldn't blame any doctor who chose to travel abroad for better living, this country is a mess.
Hmmm it is well, only the Divine knows what will become of this country.
The just so sad to see the joke Nigeria has become.
Very pathetic!
The healthcare sytem in Nigeria is in shambles, even medical practitioners themselves are drained, see them traveling out of the country on a daily, rhe system has failed us all, corruption has eaten deep into each and every sector....
All I can say is....urgent attention/reform is needed in our healthcare system....
Thanks for sharing.
