Yes, I believe we have distinct roles in the world today!

I can proudly say women in this dispensation have found their voices in different aspects of life. Gone are the days when the only usefulness of women are just child bearing and cooking in the kitchen.

Nowadays women are determined and career driven in which they don't feel inferior and live their lives according to the directive of others again, women now venture into different areas where they deem it fit and come out with positive results beyond what people can ever imagine.

Firstly, a clear role that women engage in, in the society today is the role of an Influencer. I could vividly remember in 2018 during my National Service here in Nigeria (NYSC), I was posted to an Anglican Girls Grammar School in Delta state as a teacher assistant to teach Chemistry.

As I got to the school to collect an acceptance letter, just at first sight, the principal who was an elderly woman (called Big Mummy) fell in love with me, she was just so happy that a girl-child from North-central Nigeria was trained up to the university level.

She didn't know my parents but she praised them in absentia for the job well done on me. Although the school had enough chemistry teachers, Big Mummy doesn't want to lose me to another school, so she asked me which other subjects I could teach apart from Chemistry and I told her Mathematics. The joy in Big Mummy knows no bound on hearing that I could take Mathematics apart from Chemistry she said;

Oh, I love you my daughter, the love of mathematics in students are now dieing. Please you won't be giving the senior class, I want you to take only Junior school 2, see them as your younger ones and help them to grow to love maths. Please help me influence them positively in this your one year of National Service

And she was right, when I started teaching them to the glory of God, there was a noticable improvement because I was so free with them in which they can ask me any questions at any time.

So women can influence others positively through whatever they do and you know that's what the world needs now. Even without instructing others on what to do, so far you are living right, some people will definitely follow your steps and make you a role model.

Another role of women in the society is in the aspect of rendering social services to humanity. I know some women who form a non-governmental organization who usually go to old people's homes to take care of them and also help them to do house chores, these women does it for free without asking for a salary. They just want to help oldies and put smiles on their faces, the only thing they need from them is their prayers that's all.

To be honest, women are now doing wonderfully well that I can proudly say, I'm happy to be a woman and women are the future. I can go on and on and on because the roles of women in the society now can't be overemphasized.
