June 5 Town Hall Takeaways

Today we discuss some takeaways from the recent Town hall and look at some of the key things we want to cover. As always, I recommend going through all of the whole thing as it's very informative. Lengthy but very good content.

Town Hall Scheduling

It was mentioned that we'd be transitioning to a bi-weekly town hall moving forward. I think this makes most sense as a lot of the info per week isn't always an update but more of a rehash of previous info. By having more time to gather and build out more information to share, the biweekly schedule might make more sense. Of course, if it doesn't, I trust that info will be reverted back to weekly instead.

Aside from this, it seems like Aggy will look to do a weekly player open mic for the times where there isn't a town hall so there'd still be something to look forward to on a weekly basis regardless of whether it be this one or the town hall.

Roadmap

We did get an info on an updated roadmap. Unfortunately, as expected, we're still not hitting our target dates. I recall previously that we had a target of June 1st for a few of these things and it seems like July may make more sense but let's not hold our breaths for it.

I think it'd be best to try to make as reasonable a timeline as possible. Trying not to bite of more than you can chew so that you can hit the figurative goalposts for people to be excited about would be much more beneficial.

At this point, I'm not sure which timelines are which for this whole duration but having micro timelines rather than trying to provide a big timeline and missing it would make the most sense in my opinion.

Great Burning Hurt Zyriel?

image.png

Suffice to say, the Great Burning has been a resounding success!

There are our current stats as of this writing:

  • TOTAL DEC BURNED: 347,955,938.516
  • TOTAL DEC-B BURNED: 156,292,983.525

That's a lot of DEC burned and having it removed from the market should be a good long term play for DEC. The problem is with the timing. When we had the great burning started, we were still in the wrap up period of the Zyriel promo.

  • Would it have been more beneficial to wait for the sale to end before starting the next event?
  • Has this affected potential sale prices of Zyriel?
  • Will the future of Zyriel provide a lot more scarcity in the future due to this?

All valid questions and we don't necessarily have a definite answer. Sure the hype around Zyriel would have been winding down but there could have still been people looking to grab some more for their own use. With the timing involved with the great burning event, it seems like more people would want to burn instead.

The town hall has been informative as always and this isn't a comprehensive review but just highlighting some key points from a different perspective. We still encourage everyone to try and tune in to get the most out of the available info.

What got you excited or gave you something to think about? Let us know in the comments!

Bi-weekly townhall makes a lot of sense. For a company like Splinterlands, it's definitely a big task of addressing stakeholders on a weekly basis. Private companies usually only do that around quarterly in line with the submission of financial reports. It's good to hear that there will still be something to look forward to on a weekly basis, not just mainly a townhall but probably more interactive sessions from players as well.

Zyriel on its own didn't fly as expected. Mainly due to its pricing and probably from market timing as well. With a bearish market and some player/investor fatigue, who would want to spend so so much? Since it's supposedly a quarterly promo release, I hope priority would be for more affordable options. I think Arkemis and Vruz were great releases.

Agree, bro!

biweekly would make more sense especially if there aren't any updates on the past week. Rehashing info will just be redundant. Slotting in something else like the open mic would probably be a lot better for viewers, too.

For Zyriel, the price point is too high which is why less people got it and if you include other things going on like the great burning then even lesser people would be keen. Alternating a cheap option with a premium one is a good idea. Arkemis and Vruz were good additions.
