Fog of War! Weekly Battle Mage Secrets!
Welcome back to our Weekly Battle Mage Secrets!
This week, we are featuring the For of War ruleset.
Fog of War:
- All units lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.
- Scattershot still works in this ruleset.
Fog of War is a pretty good ruleset where you can take advantage of being able to dictate where damage can get directed as much as possible (aside from the obvious Taunt and Scattershot). It also gives you a chance to use your glass cannon monsters to dish out tons of damage without worrying about them getting mowed down easily.

| Bloodlust is a great ability to use in Fog of War if you can squeeze it in especially in the backline. I mentioned that if you can put glass cannons into the lineup, they'd work really well. A backline hard hitter that can potentially get further boosted will be a monster. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Taunt is a good pairing with a Bloodlust monster. If you aren't able to slot in a backline monster with Bloodlust, try putting it on the front line and have a Taunt monster in the backline soak up some damage instead. Please note that Scattershot will circumvent this. |
| Aside from Bloodlust, Double Strike is another ability you'll want to fit in where you can. Getting more damage in will help you reduce enemy numbers quicker and will get you closer to winning. |
This week's feature is from a regular match in Diamond League. Rulesets are as follows:
For this week's match, we have a fairly high mana game so we can have a bit more options to pick from. Round 1I opted to go with Obsidian while the enemy directly countered me with Thaddius. Both of us use taunt to redirect some damage and I incorporated both a resu and a heal in my lineup. A key piece here is that even though there's no armor and Arkemis' Protect ability isn't in play, the more important bit here is the Halving effect. Round 2At the beginning of round 2, we see that we have made quick work of the enemy Lurker. The heal by my Goblin Psychic has also done wonders to keep my Arkemis alive. At this point, we see that my Slipspawn isn't long for the world but will most likely take the resu provided by Grog. This will help tank an extra hit while we take our time to decimate the rest of their lineup. Round 3Round 3 gets kicked off with us making quick work of the Windeku while also applying Poison to the Queen of Crows. The heal from the Psychic is still holding strong and Arkemis both tanks well and deals massive damage while also applying the Halving effect. Round 4Here in the last round we can clearly see that Arkemis takes the MVP while being surrounded by great support in both the Psychic and the Poison from the Seedsmith. This is a great example of some good synergies to use when in the Fog of War ruleset. ResultsGG! This was an amazing match and showcases a lot of the things we wanted to cover for this particular ruleset. While it's a shame that no armor was involved in this match, you can't always get all you want with RNG. That's it for this one and see you next week! Full battle here.
