Sunset at Dalhousie
They call Alberta Big Sky Country. What that means is the sky seems bigger here compared to other places, or at least that is what I have been told. I never thought too much of it until I got into photography and liked taking pictures of the sky, especially as it lit up during golden hour. Dalhousie is a neighborhood I used to live in situated in the NW part of Calgary. It is a hilly area with lots of space, and the big skies that I was referring to might be found here. It was also around this time that I took my first trip to Toronto for business, and I can recall being outside near sunset, and it finally hit me that I was seeing less sky; it was like everything was smaller or smushed somehow. Maybe it was because I was used to being a lot further above sea level or the fact that the city was much larger and connected to other cities. Either way, once I came back, it was then that I really understood what Big Sky meant.
