Seagull Close Up

I find that Seagulls are quite an interesting bird to photograph from a visual stand point. The different gradations of white to gray combined with some shadow makes their feature more delicate to capture. White can be really tricky to expose without blowing out the highlights, and in this case the soft shadows add some depth and detail to this image. Even the little lines and ridges in those skinny legs have a visual appeal to me. I'm glad this one sat still long enough for me to capture some of these finer details before flying off to join its friends.
