Ostrich's in the snow at the Calgary Zoo

These big birds seem to enjoy the snow; they were playfully running around in it. I find that interesting, as this species is most comfortable in the African savannah and grasslands. They are known as birds that don't fly but can run quite fast, approaching speeds of 72 km/h, which is much faster than I can run. Although there was some snow on the ground, it wasn't particularly cold, and they have an indoor part of their enclosure that they use when the weather is not agreeable with them.
