Monomad: Lifecycle of a Dandelion
The dandelion has one of the most observable cycles of life and reproduction that there is. Most people have seen dandelions grow, starting out as green-stemmed with little yellow fibers. It all begins as a seed, which grows and starts to sprout in about 7 to 14 days. It will first focus on growing a strong root over the course of 2 to 3 weeks with its leaves and then forming over a process of 4 to 10 weeks.
The bright yellow blooms will come as they flower during this period, and they will attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Each flower can produce up to 150 to 200 seeds, and as they change to their white puffball stage, the seeds become visible, and the flower fades to this transparent look. Soon the seeds will start to disperse, carried by the aforementioned pollinators and the wind to spread and grow many, many more dandelions.
