Monomad: Big Horn Sheep at the Calgary Zoo
With their distinctive horns, these big horn sheep are easily identifiable. Sometimes called a ram, these are the Rocky Mountain variety of this mammal. Known as the largest of their species, they are found throughout the Rockies and are a fairly common sight along the highways at higher elevations. The larger males can weigh over 300 pounds, and during the winter their coat is typically a lighter color, and when they shed for the summer, they will often have a darker coat.
