Great Grey Owl
This great grey owl was looking away for quite a while, and I thought it might never turn its head back around. Then it happened, and I got to see its amazing face and wise old eyes. It seemed to glance at me for a second before moving on to more important things to look at. This owl is impressively large; it was alone on a branch at the Calgary Zoo, in the same area as the snowy white owls that I posted about earlier. Being the middle of the day, I feel very fortunate that this owl was awake and gave me a chance to get some nice close-ups.
