Desolate Forest and Evergreens

These shots were from the tail end of winter and the start of spring. The only green is from the trees that have the name that aptly describes their state, evergreens. The rest of everything is barren and brown; it's an interesting contrast. While lush green or white-coated snowy landscapes usually have te most eye appeal, I find that this time of year has its own charm. There is a slight crispness in the air that the warmth of the sun starts to break. The last little patches of snow are starting to get exposed, stubbornly hanging on until it gets warm enough to melt. I find this to be a very calm time of year, with not as many people around. The weather is generally pretty calm, and it's good to get out again and see spring emerging.
