Elon's Twitter Revolution

I've been following the recent drama on Twitter with a keen eye and boy, it's been wild! Elon Musk has been shaking things up, and not everyone's thrilled about it. But as the saying goes, change is the only constant thing right?

Elon's been stirring the scene since he took over Twitter and his latest move? Rate limiting. Now I know what you're thinking, "What the heck is rate limiting?" Let me break it down for you.

Rate Limiting: A Quick Intro

Rate limiting is all about controlling the number of requests a user can make to a server. For Twitter, this means verified accounts can now read 10,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts are limited to 1,000 posts. The goal here is to put a lid on rampant data scraping by organizations.

But it's not just the data scrapers who are affected. Regular users, especially those who are active on Twitter, might find themselves hitting these limits too.

Data Scraping and money talks

Data scraping is like that annoying party guest who won't stop snooping around your house. It's when automated systems load up a website or app and pull all your tweets and data. It's a massive security issue and Twitter's new limitations are all about showing this party crasher the door.

Also, it's not just about security. Data scraping also raises serious privacy concerns, as it can expose personal information and conversations that users might not want to be public.

Running a platform like Twitter is not cheap. With over 500,000 servers, Twitter's got some hefty bills to pay. Many people think it’s just a ploy to get more users to pay Elon $8 to verify their accounts but truth is the new limitations could help keep Twitter's financial health in check by reducing the load on their servers and the associated costs.

Enter Hive:The Web3Champion

While Twitter's busy dealing with its challenges, I can’t help but think about how Hive scales Twitter. Hive is a decentralized social media protocol built on the principles of Web3 and it's got some pretty cool tricks up its sleeve.

One of Hive's standout features is its use of JSON metadata in posts. This feature allows Hive to efficiently store and retrieve data, significantly reducing the load on servers. This scalability is a significant advantage over traditional platforms like Twitter, which are grappling with server issues.

Hive is all about censorship resistance, decentralization, and monetization. Unlike Twitter, Hive doesn't have a single entity pulling the strings, making it tough for any organization or government to impose restrictions or control the narrative. Plus, users can earn cryptocurrency for their contributions.

Hive'sGovernance Model: Power to the People

Unlike Twitter, where one person is in charge of making decisions, Hive operates on a decentralized governance model. Hive's governance is handled by the community, with token holders voting on various proposals. This model ensures that no single entity has absolute control, fostering a more democratic and inclusive platform.

The Future of Social Media

As Twitter navigates these choppy waters, we're likely to see more changes to its policies and limitations. On the flip side, Hive represents a new wave of social media platforms built on the principles of Web3. Its focus on censorship resistance, decentralization, and monetization offers a compelling alternative to traditional platforms like Twitter.

The recent changes on Twitter have sparked a significant debate about the future of social media. While these changes aim to combat data scraping and ensure financial sustainability, they also highlight the challenges that traditional social media platforms face in the era of Web3.

Platforms like Hive offer a glimpse into a future where users have more control over their account and content and can directly benefit from their contributions. It is clear that the conversation about the future of social media is far from over. Whether you're a Twitter loyalist or a Hive enthusiast, these are exciting times for social media users worldwide.

So what's your take on the recent changes on Twitter and the potential of Hive? I'm all eyes 👀 !Of all this drama, what baffles me most is the outrage from Twitter users that are not verified. Why so angry about a business owner chooses to run his business?

It is nice to be witnessing all of this transpiring. We get to see which is more suitable for us, Web 2 or Web 3.

Sooner or later Hive is going to be recognized for its dethentralized, censorship-resistance capabilities.

What I always find interesting is how none of these so called pro researchers or engineers use Hive and actually loose their accounts come out to say so.

They behave like they’ve already lost before even trying. It’s funny. They scream Nostr is not decentralized but they refuse to use the decentralized alternative. Lol!
