Researchers have created a new system where calcium ions and photons get entangled together.Simply put, they have found a method where multiple quantum bits or qubits can be associated with different photons.

In this experiment, they used 10 ions simultaneously, and each ion was able to be connected with a separate photon. In the future, it will be possible to add distant quantum computers using this technique.

The most amazing thing is that the accuracy or precision of their process is about 92%. That means it works almost without errors.

The research team was led by Ben Lanyon. He says that this time the system can be scaled up to a much larger scale than before. Where before 2 or 3 ions could be linked to photons, now they have done 10. In the future, it can be extended to hundreds of ions.

This can play a major role not only in the quantum internet but also in the creation of quantum clocks (optical atomic clocks). These clocks are so perfect that they will not make a single second mistake in the entire duration of the universe. If such clocks are connected to a global quantum network, then the accuracy of time calculation will reach a new level.
