Issues, walks, cakes and smiles - could you ask for more from a day?

1000014963.jpg

My first question this morning, with my eyes still closed was what day it was, Friday or Saturday... Before my husband could even answer, my brain snapped into life, like electricity arriving after a power outage.

My mind said it was Saturday; it continued with thoughts like: you don't have to rush to get up... only when you get tired of lazing in bed you will get up, go to the kitchen, make coffee, check out Hive, go to the market for fruit and vegetables, bread, and fresh meat. Somehow this rhythm was just right for me now; I know it may sound a bit provincial, but this Saturday somehow fit into that rhythm.

Plans?

Sure, I had some and they were slightly different than the day turned out, but that doesn't mean it was something bad in the end. Certain moments showed me some of my weaknesses, and that is very good if you want to reevaluate your thoughts and maybe work on yourself.

When we were about to sit down to have lunch, at that moment the small kitchen neon light blinked and stopped glowing; also, the monotonous music the washing machine was making from the laundry stopped.

What is going on?

1000014959.jpg

We checked the electrical switch and everything was fine. All the fuses were in place, nothing was out of control. I thought that the whole building must have lost power; I rang the doorbell of the first neighbour to check if everything was okay, and lo and behold - she had electricity. Since there are only a few apartments in our building, we all know each other by name and they are all friendly. She came over right away and showed us what she does when her power goes out, but that happens to her when she turns on too many household appliances at once, which was not the case with us. Nothing, her technique didn't work, the problem was probably only with us.

She advised us to call customer support from the electricity company and report the issue. Do you know what it's like to talk to customer support? Probably yes. After several calls and instructions on what to do and who to call next, the last lady we spoke to said that then it was not up to them but that we had to find an electrician to come because something must have broken down at our place. Maybe something had burned out in the cables inside the walls. Maybe the whole switch was broken. Maybe... I was already starting to panic from thinking so much; I noticed a slight tremor in my hand. Why would I react like that? Everything can be fixed, but a thought came, some distrust in our decision and this apartment and... Distrust. A very unpleasant feeling. It is frightening.

1000014964.jpg

Before calling a private electrician, we decided to check the electrical panel where all the fuses for the entire building were and see if there was a problem with our one. For that, we needed to go to the house manager. I rang the doorbell of his apartment. Nothing - silence. The bell didn't ring. I tried again, but silence again, although I could hear voices. When I knocked on the door, they opened it and I explained the situation and asked if she could unlock the panel with the main switch for us. Her dad, a 92-year-old man who was the building manager until recently, immediately knew what the problem was. There was a power outage on the next street, but that faulty electrical phase supplies power to some apartments and it looks like our and his one were among the affected ones. Wow, I was surprised that a 92-year-old man knew how to check online that there was an electrical outage and when it would be fixed, and that we didn't even think about that. 🤦‍♀ We thought about the worst situations and it was not even in our hands to fix the issue. Lessons to learn from this situation!!

1000014969.jpg

As the estimated time for the electricity to come back was a few hours away we went for a walk.
First, we walked in the countryside, and then we returned to the city where these palm trees greeted us. I am sure I miss them a bit, and that is why I pay attention when I see them. We also headed to the bus station because our son had to arrive.

1000014974.jpg

He arrived, hungry (the life of a student 😂), so we headed to a pastry shop where we had coffee and some cakes, and the smile has become the master of our lives again - with our son, this weekend will definitely be full of smiles.

1000014979.jpg

And then one day you realize that everything starts again... and the smile becomes the master of your life again.

Good evening @mipiano. I think everyone has gone through the situation of asking for help from any company's customer service, and it can be an ordeal.

I was really struck by how up to date that 92 year old gentleman is.

In the end it all ended well, which is the important thing.

Have a great Sunday

It is unbelievable that this man knew .... but being an administrator he knew it! Well there are people who don't know anything hahaha, thank goodness it was something that was going to be resolved and you could concentrate on the arrival of your son. How tasty those sweets look! Hugs!🤗

That electricity issue is kinda serious and I understand that it can also cause panic. Especially you don't know exactly what's happening while your neighbor has a working electricity. If it's Mom she won't stop until she knows the cause. With that I always check online if there's a power interruption as we have FB page for that. It help us calm down a bit but still annoying especially if we have something important to do and there's no power, sometimes it really happens without even a noticed. But still, a minutes after that sudden power interruption a noticed will popup. And we're like "aghhh, again!" Lol.

Anyways at least everything eas fixed now. And what a beautiful way to end the day, a sweets with great coffee ✨ while having a sweet time with your son.

You are then experienced in checking out if there is an issue :D
Well, I don't have FB (true, I didn't use it for a long time, and once I wanted to log in FB disabled my account and even when I applied to get it back, my petition was denied. 😳 what the heck happened, I don't know, but I don't exist there anymore 😂) but yes, next time we know on what page to check, where they notify about issues and the estimated time it would be fixed. I hope though we will not need it at all 😂

Yeah, I have to, coz Mon won't stop checking everything herself if I don't, lol. But don't you want to create a new one just for that? You can just lock your fb profile if you want it to be a private account. But yeah, it's still better if you don't have to experience it again. Lol. In our case, hahhh, our province is actually now called the brownout capital of the Philippines because of how often the power interruption here. Its a pain in the neck seriously 😆😆.

Oh!!! Two pieces of cake. I wonder who ate them..... 🤔

Hope the electrician has sorted everything out now.

I could blame our son and say he ate both of them 😂 (and it would be a big lie hahaha, he had one chocolate croissant, his hands there in the background)

I have always found it really beautiful when you express your happiness to be together with your son. I feel an energy of purity and renewal in you that can overcome any difficulties that might come your way.
The coffee cup and the phrase, details that can make our day.
We are not machines, mipiano, there are voices that creep into our thoughts and should not be there. But little by little we can get rid of them. You have done well, you chose where to look, like what brings you happiness starting with the palm trees before you welcome your son. And then the greatest treasure. And those sweets hahaha... Yummy 😋.
As long as one has dreams, goals, energy and desire... something or someone we want to live for, nothing is impossible to solve.

I also liked that little detail by the coffee, you know, I like to collect those little packages of sugar with phrases so I have a few more since I posted them last time. I hope it helped you too in some way.
My son went now back, but we didn't go to the pastry shop after the bus station but hiking in nature. It was so nice, I hope to prepare a post about it 🌲

Crazy how that pastry stop changed the whole mood! I feel the same and it's also the easiest and quickest way to give your brain a break from any bad thing happened that day.

Sugar can do magic to our mind hahaha
But actually when we knew it would be fixed and the issue was not in our place, then I went back to the calm state :D

My husband actually likes to fix things at home, and we did a lot of things by ourselves (fixing, adjusting etc) but for electricity... well, it is a bit more serious so better not touch it, even if it can be quite expensive 😁

I hope your day today was already Sunday - Sunday haha
Mine was clear from the very first moment - when the alarm clock woke me up at 6:45 (as I have to wake up at that time on Sundays)

It's good everything finished well, to be with out electricity is very stressful , we know now in Cuba we are having cut of it everyday but in this case the 90 years old man is the responsable for it 😅😅😆

Have a nice Sunday señorita mi piano de los apagones, las caminatas y las sonrisas 😁

It was just the uncertainty about where the issue was, like something very weird, as everything was ok with the fuses and the first neighbour had electricity but we didn't, and the lady from the customer support made me freak out hahaha 😂

Thanks to the old neighbour who knew what was going on I felt relieved 😉

Thank you and a nice Sunday to you too 😇
