Grey Hood went to...

DSC_6703.JPG

So, it happened that day when we went to the lake, a few weeks ago. We took the fishing rods, food, and some extra jackets (just in case, as it can be windy and cold in December up in the mountains), the camera and my determination that I must find a few mushrooms. You know, when you live on a peninsula where aliens took away all of them {a story that came a long time ago - how the mushrooms disappeared from Spain), it is not an easy task to find many fungi.

If any.

But I had time so the searching adventure could come. I left my husband with his activity, which was fishing, and I used my feet to walk.

And... walk.

Uphill. Downhill.

Between pine trees and always staying strictly on the path. You know the story, right?
Does Little Red Riding Hood sound familiar?

Well, something similar, as the person who walked here had a grey hoodie, not red, but we can improvise a bit here. And she didn't have a basket.

Pfff, another difference, I am already deviating from the path, I mean from the storyline.

...Deep in the forest, from a not-so-easily visible place, a distant voice addressed the visitor...

Well, well, well... Look who decided to grace us with their presence... The Little Grey Riding Hood and her friend, the old, almost dying Nikon. I think I should greet you two with a nicer greeting... What about - Kon’nichiwa?

DSC_6713.JPG

Grey Hood (let's abbreviate her long name) couldn't believe her eyes. She rubbed them, but that made things worse. Her vision became blurry. But somehow she saw it could be a mushroom.

Then, there was no way back. She was determined to find more of them but it meant even more of that walking activity. Two little yellowish spots between the conifer needles hinted at the presence of fungi. No wolves, foxes or wild boars, though she saw some footprints in the mud by the lake...

DSC_6697.JPG

We see how modest these specimens are. Moreover, they were hiding between all the dry needles and branches, so the search had to continue. Grey Hood wanted to meet unique mushrooms. With weird shape.

This one already matched better her expectations.

DSC_6710.JPG

Oh, the next one too.

An artist on the stage, though I am not sure if Lady Fungusa was singing, acting, or playing a rare musical instrument that looked like a conifer needle or else.

Grey Hood didn't reveal that detail to us.

DSC_6715.JPG

She just took some mushrooms in her hand to show how small or big they could be. They were all of the same colours, probably they were coming from the same family. The good thing is that they differed in shape, age and size.

They differed in emotional state too. While many of these mushrooms were pleased and satisfied with their life in the needle blanket and some were more inspired and decided to become artists, the last one that Grey Hood saw was a bit shaken up...

I think his life has taken a strange turn, somewhat upside down in these moments.

DSC_6729.JPG

Or he just got tired from this story and went to sleep.

That must be the case! 😂

But before Grey Hood also goes to sleep, she would like to add the guidelines on how to participate in the #FungiFriday event, held by @ewkaw

-when Friday comes (UTC time) post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi
-add #FungiFriday tag (it doesn't have to be your first tag)
-Include "My contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw" anywhere in your post.

source of the rules 🍄

Hunting those cute little mushrooms will always be an exciting activity since it's a surprise what you will find.😁 especially deep in a forest.
We have mini forest also here in our place but got no time to explore it, also it's not a good place to explore now since there's a lot of obstacles plus maybe there's a snake hiding under those broken tree trunks, camouflaging.

A snake? 😱

That is a dangerous searching for mushrooms then!

It was just a normal forest, not really dangerous, though if she ate some of these mushrooms... then it could be dangerous - for health 😂

It's funny that a story that starts talking about landscapes and forests ends up telling about small mushrooms... but that's the magic of the story!!!

Wow, such mushrooms! Do you cook them?

Here in Italy we love to make them into "risotto", or make them roasted/stewed/fried or also as a side for meat/vegetables

No, not these ones. I think they are not edible.
