Paying The Price To Success

While treading the path of success, the road may look so dry that one would have no hope of ever seeing water anywhere. Tiredness and thirst would make the person feel like turning back because hopelessness keeps ringing a bell around. This bell recites a particular song; "You're only wasting your time. This thing isn't gonna work!"

And the more a person listens to it, there's a certainty that it would keep replaying in the mind and eventually make the person lose interest in continuing. He would prefer rather to return to where he was, instead of moving forward and being hopeful because, his mind has been clouded by negativity.

While going through the book "Think and Grow Rich", I the Chapter 2 talks about a family. Then, it was the period of Gold Rush Era and this family stumbled on a gold mine. They started off so well. But then, when the gold seems to dry up, they lose interest, lose hope in it and ended up selling their machinery.

Another family bought the machinery and kept digging. They dug till they hit the jackpot! Little did the other family knew that they were only three feet away from hitting a gold vein.

While at it, I thought of Thomas Edison. You know the famous and prolific inventors of all time, right? 😅 History has it that he he made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. But did he give up? He kept on trying till it became a reality!

The thought of being successful all starts with a desire. And, being able to have an unwavering desire is one thing that would help you focus on what you need.

How can you do this? How can you keep your desire from wavering?

It all starts with mastering your thoughts. Before you take that step in becoming successful, ask yourself a simple question: "What exactly do you want? How do you intend carrying out your ideas?"

After that, write down your goals. Also, write down the steps needed to achieve those goals. Each day, as you toil, read those goals out aloud to yourself. Could be twice a day, thrice, or as many times as you can! Let it register on your mind. As you do this, you're keeping your desires in the center of your mind. My husband would say "at the front of your mind" because, when it's at the front of your mind, you'd do everything to carry it out. Keeping it at the back of your mind may actually make it look not so important to you.

Having an unwavering desire in becoming successful is all about holding on to that desire even when it seems like the odds are stacked against you.

This is a key to success. As you keep moving, you'll realize that it's actually worth paying the price.

I believe in the saying that there's no shortcut to success. It's either one works hard or fails.
