Motherhood - a journey that is both rewarding and challenging at the same time. As a new mom, I have learned many valuable lessons but the one that stands out for me is that, love is immeasurable.

Before becoming a mom, I used to think that I knew what love was. I loved my husband, my brothers, family members, my friends and even the kids I taught at school. But, I never knew I had no idea what it really meant to love someone with every fiber of their being. After I returned from the hospital (I didn't return till the next day as I was rushed to another hospital because I was bleeding), my daughter was placed on my arms and I felt a love that was nothing close to anything I had ever experienced before. It felt like my heart had expanded to accommodate the tiny human in my arms and there, I was overwhelmed with a sense of care, affection and responsibility.

As I navigated through the ups and downs of motherhood, I understand better now that love is not just a feeling but, a decision; a choice. It was a decision to put my baby's needs before my own, to sacrifice my comfort and desires for her benefit; to love her unconditionally, no matter what.

Love has been explained to me in a better way - it's a feeling that goes beyond words, time and actions. It cannot be measured based on the time spent with my child, or based on how many times I say 'I love you' to my husband. It's a state of being that is driving me to be the best mother I can be.

One of the most significant things that has proved to me that love is immeasurable is through the sleepless nights and exhausting days. There are days I wake up with a banging head, as though it was hit with a big pestle. There was days when I just want to sleep. There are days when I just want to be alone. But despite these challenges, I feel a sense of joy and fulfillment that I haven't experienced before.

Another thing is the moment of pride and joy when I see my baby crush a milestone. For instance, my baby can now sit and she talks a lot (yeah, the baby language😅). She laughs a lot with people and she enjoys it when she's playing around or when her dad carries her. It gives me this kind of indescribable joy. In these little moments, I realize that there's a feeling in my heart, that makes me want to become the best version of myself for my daughter and other children I will have.

I've also learned that love is immeasurable through the moments of fear. When my child is sick or taking injections for her immunization, it feels like a part of me is sharing in her pains. And in those times, I realize that love is beyond mere words; it's a feeling that drives me to be strong, even when I feel weak and makes me stay courageous and resilient, even when it's hard for me to.

As I continue this journey of motherhood, I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and I am looking forward to the lessons awaiting me in the future. I know these little lessons will help me improve and become a better person.
