Price Hike

Hello,
I am not sure where to fit this post of mine. Whether I should categorise this on the rant and complaints community, to the thoughtful posts community, or to the leofinance. Okay, let's go ahead, I will decide on that at the end of the writing.

"ᵂᵒʳᵈˢ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵖⁱᶜˢ ᵃʳᵉ ᵐⁱⁿᵉ, ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᴵ ˢʰᵒᵘᵗᵒᵘᵗ ʷʰᵉʳᵉ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᶜᵃᵐᵉ ᶠʳᵒᵐ!"

Here it's the month of Ramadan, a holy month, which puts some demand on a few specific consumable items that don't get that much attention throughout the whole year. The items are like dates, juice, and a few more items. Now as the demand has risen multiple times dishonest businessmen are trying to make profits way more than they should.

As we know, these work in a chain of reactions. The owner of rice increased the price, now the people who sell chickens and vegetables need rice for their families too so to cover that extra expense they simply aimed to make some extra profits by increasing their goods price as well. Suppose, one product has a valid reason for the price hike, rest of the others get disturbed as well by the dishonest businessmen.

As we all know about the supply and demand relations, it's obvious to affect the supply of a product when the demand for it increases suddenly. Even when there is a good amount of supplies available, the businessmen take the opportunity to exploit the general public. Indirectly, this action creates negative effects on their other products, and in the meantime, the general public gets to be affected mostly.

Suppose, a rickshaw puller, who needs to feed his families too, seeing the increasing prices on the daily needs he too wants to increase his fares as well. The next pressure falls on the people who work for fixed payouts, what would they do? How would they get the extra money? Simple, most of them walk towards dishonesty, corruption, and such unethical activities to meet those extra needs. This is how this chain of reaction works and makes everything unstable.

Lemme portray the effect of such a situation on the bigger picture. Last year, in the same month, 30 people donated food for 30 days respectively in an orphanage. This year, I saw a few responding, not because they didn't want to but because of their financial situation because of the price hikes everywhere. Come on, I can see the effects on myself, on my family as well. Nothing to be ashamed of, more or less everyone from the upper class to the lower is getting affected, many well-off families are struggling in one way or the other, they might be handling the situations somehow saving their backs but some are really struggling way more than you can imagine.

Prices of goods and commodities are increasing daily and a lot of us who could afford a few things before may not be able to afford it anymore
Our earnings are also not increasing
It is very sad

Sadly these price hikes are more akin to price gouging than anything else. The prices of all kinds of things are coming down in relative terms of actual costs but there’s so much greed and corruption that it offsets that by rising prices. We will hopefully get to a better state in these terms but I think there is more pain to come before it corrects itself.
