New Developer in Town

I am not a web developer, never have I attempted to be one out of the different fields and domains I have tried, this wasn’t anywhere on the list. I was always around this, on the relevant domains but not in that particularly. Why? Just like that, maybe the other options I had chosen were more logical to me. Oh yeah, one of the reasons was that it was too saturated among the mass of people.

In my workplace, we do have three full time web developers working to put things in place along with the other teams. So the frontend, which has evolved to the current state after a lot of trial and error, looks somewhat decent. It's the result of the work that lasted months after months.

I am on the research team, also tasked on product development. Usually I do research on concepts that I feel like to include, do some proof-of-work to validate and present before the team leads and collaborate with the other teams for further workflow. When the backend is ready then the implementation are done on the frontend for usage.

There has been a saying that,”AI will take our jobs, lol” How? Lemme explain. We had a Cursor subscription. It was a weekend, i did my research and was done with the poc as well. Now, something hit me hard, why don't i try to visualize my poc, like how things I would like to be presented on the frontend, how the functionalities would work, how the workflow will be, everything that goes with the research and workflow. So what i did was that, I took the existing source code, opened via cursor ide. Instructed to analyze the whole source code, how each and everything is there, like each and every details for the context.

Surprisingly, within a day, I just made a frontend of the research, just the same as the other ones. Like the other webpages of the project, the whole ui/ux were the same with bare eyes. Like no normal person would notice the differences. I made the whole team surprised with the presentation of the PoC demonstrated with the frontend design I want for that research.

Here comes the main part. Even though I have created the frontend that looks quite the same, it isn't acceptable, why? It might be the same from outside, but the code I generated with trial and error blindly without any fundamental knowledge to instruct that way, it just created the workable ui messing up with the code pretty badly. Let alone being a clean code, it was nowhere manageable or suitable for integration with the backend and other workflows. Why? Because i didn’t have any damn fu**ing idea on how to instruct on the underlying relevant things.

AI can't do things alone, I need someone on the driving seat, someone with proper knowledge on the specific domain to do the specific task perfectly. AI is here to help, to make the workflow faster, to guide us solving the queries, not to replace us!! Just get that in mind and seat tight on the driving skills with the relevant skill set.
