Just another day
I live a pretty simple life, I enjoy simple healthy meals, and I find great joy in doing simple things, in simple ways. Still, it was not a simple process for me to simply be content with living a simple life.
I've been through several transformations throughout the years, I'm constantly reinventing myself and creating new possibilities for sustaining a simple lifestyle.
"The most notable change I made to become a better version of myself was letting go of living in the past, and constantly worrying about the future."
Living in the present is enlightenment. I started to see opportunities and seize them, and I became more comfortable with taking risks and ownership of any failure. I accepted and moved on from unrealised dreams, that were not meant to be. I acknowledged growth despite the challenges and obstacles that were inevitable, and I gained new aspirations and applied different goal-setting strategies.
I then had a heart-to-heart talk with myself and realised that the simple life I was living, was one that I wished for, and my new focus was making the most of my current circumstances wherever I was situated.
I've always had a fascination with maps, globes, atlases, geography and history. I would sit on my bed as a little girl, read the names of places on the globe, and figure out the proximity of my home in a small village in Jamaica. I often wondered what typical days, people, foods, customs and traditions were in many of those countries.
I wanted to see the world.
I wanted to learn about different cultures.
I was fascinated by different people.
I've always worked in an international setting, in small and large organisations with international standards, and multi-culturalism, and I developed an international mindset along the way.
I was in training and slowly gathering the assets and fixtures for a small coffee shop, to be called Cinnamon Cup Coffee. I had dreams of having activities and workshops, with locals and tourists popping in. I was a lot younger with the zest to face all the challenges I knew would be involved in the marketing, setting up and running the shop daily. Instead, I left the island to go and study, and followed my dreams to explore and experience the world; The best way in which I grow.
More than a decade later, here I am living a minimalist lifestyle and running my virtual coffee shop.
I'm grinning at the idea. At life. In my present reality.
Globalisation and living in a virtual world are positive to me, especially with the inclusion of coffee.
Instead of having to source the best coffee in the world, stock fresh supplies of pastries, and meals, decorate and upkeeping the coffee shop, find baristas and floor staff for operation, general maintenance of appliances, and a neverending list of things to accomplish, to be able to pay rent and salary. Here I am, thanks to Web 3, Hive.
Subscribers and active community members, and everyone who helps to keep this community alive, I appreciate you. It's my greatest joy to refresh my screen to see all the beautiful delights and wonderful stories. To live vicariously through you, enjoying coffee and coffee shop experiences from across the world, while learning about your lives through your stories.
I still dream. I have aspirations to do other things as well, and I'm continuously working and improving myself. However, I take solace in enjoying the simple things that I have at my disposal, and as I have my afternoon coffee, I feel grateful for having an audience, the community, and all of you.
Thank you and cheers to many more pleasures.☕️

Hei, Milly. Living minimalist is a great way to start making big impact on our lives for better life. I get started living minimalist too. Im looking for old stuff, give to others, looking back to broken stuff and remove it from my house.. that's simpe but not easy to do. Ahaha.
Well, I love your work table, besides your style is cool! ☕
I'm so happy to hear that you're on the path of minimalism Anggrek 😁
My life changed drastically and it's an ongoing process. I have so much more that I need to part with.
💯%... But you'll get there little by little each day.
My husband was just teasing me. I love little gadgets and pop-ups. 😆
That would be good giving to others in need.. that's thoughtful of you
Yeah if still good condition, I will give it to others 😊 glad if we can share with others
Thats a great virtue caring for others. I appreciate your personality
This is the best @anggreklestari , I know we don't have a lot of things but we do this too. On Sunday we will be having a community service where sharing the pre loved clothes is a part of it. So it's time to open the closet and give some to others.
Because life is changed. Many stuff we did not use anymore because our condition in house.
In here, in my religion, we have special day on Friday, that day will increase blessing for life ❤️
Hi @millycf1976, I'm impressed with your simple life achievements and also this post inspired me - If Cinnccf was a physical shop, my CV would have landed on its homepage immediately. Hehe...
Knowing the culture and what's going on out there is always exciting - I always imagine being in a beautiful place every time I see an amazing post, and that's enough for me :)
Hehe! I would hire you in a heartbeat if I had a coffee shop. Staffing would have been the biggest challenge, and apart from providing local employment opportunities, I'd have been seen as having diversity.
Things worked out for the best when I gave up that dream, and having the Blockchain has been a blessing in many ways. I've learned so much and gained insightful knowledge and discovered new possibilities if I should ever have a physical shop.
That's the same for me too. Seeing all the different regions and how different coffee is in Indonesia is always uplifting:))) ☕️
If so, open a coffee shop in Indonesia to help local employment like me, it will definitely become a viral coffee shop in my country because customers can pay with Hive 😅
Sounds like a brilliant idea. I would have you and macchiata 😆
It would be a really cool place.
I was in the process of signing up to do a 30-Day Yoga teacher training course in Indonesia, and then Covid came and made me move back to the UK from the Philippines. I had no idea at the time that there was such a huge coffee culture in Indonesia 😁
Too bad you didn't enjoy the vibes drinking coffee in Indonesia back then, next time you should start from Aceh :)
No, I didn't make it to Indonesia, sadly. Now I know so much more and many people there, should I ever find myself back in Asia. I'd love to meet you :)
Hopefully someday and don't forget to bring coffee from there 😄
hehe, yeah! Definitely! I'd take some Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee 😍
Absolutely. lots of positives from this post. Inspiring💯
I didn't realize that the community was birthed from a dream of owning a real coffee shop by the same name. Very interesting.
You're right about living in the moment being a true form of Enlightenment. I agree 👍 💯
Yes. I came close to opening up a coffee shop.
I just looked at my old business plan which triggered my memory that Cinnamon Cup Coffee was gonna be a short distance from a golf club called Cinnamon Hill in Montego Bay. That's where the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival was held annually. Everything changed though, and I'm so happy that I'm not fixed to that location for various reasons.
People speak about living in the present lightly. However, I discovered it through deep introspection and soul searching and did some research after, and realised that I was onto something good.
My life changed, and I found direction and purpose. 🙏
Well everything happens for a reason as they say, so it seems that things worked out and you were still able to accomplish the dream in a new form. That's super cool
Yes, I do smile when I think about it that way. Life happens in mysterious ways 😁
My husband laughs whenever he sees me pop up in an office at the strangest place because he was just a friend when I had the plans for the coffee shop many years ago:)
#LivingTheDream 😅
I !love your simple life. I was planning to stop for an upvote, but you sucked me in with your simple life.
We often chase big things and more things and then we find out that the simpler, the better 💙

I too like a simple life. I'm glad you found your way to yours.
(slides a tip into your coffee shop tip jar)
Thank you 😊
I much prefer having this virtual coffee shop!
Thanks for the tip 😆
Wow , inspired with your words. I hope there's still plans to open a physical coffee shop alongside the virtual one 😊
You never know in life. It's not foremost on my agenda now, but I'd never say no if that opportunity came up.
Thanks for stopping by:)

If it's one thing that the recent pandemic and tragedies around the world taught me; It was to live every moment to the fullest, take risks, and don't wait for things to happen. Create my world how I want it to achieve happiness, and if I fail along the way, divert and try something new.
All the best in living simply and finding appreciation in the simple things 🤗
Have a lovely day:)))
Indeed.. As the adage goes.. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect...that's exactly what I'm doing when I truly want something to happen..
Hello dear friend, here reading these beautiful words with a cup of coffee and enjoying the moment, living a calm life, without worries and working for the day and day, since it is much better, since if we go back to the past , it will not be good. This hive chain of blocks has allowed us to achieve many incredible things that we were never going to think of and to be able to relax in front of a computer writing and reading motivating posts to continue growing. That dream of setting up a cafeteria is incredible, despite the adversities you now enjoy your virtual cafeteria, where was I going to achieve that? For me it is a pleasure to be and be part of the community, where interaction is the best. Success and let's keep moving forward and forging many dreams, since this adventure is just beginning. A cup of coffee that looks very rich. Greetings friend @millycf1976
Hello David!
Yes, Hive is a blessing in many ways. Many opportunities are created through Hive that touch many lives in a variety of ways, whether it be financially, socially, filling a gap, or for personal growth at improving so many skills. I'm super thankful to be living my dream virtually:)))
Thanks, and same to you!
A beautiful life story! I see that after everything you have done well and you receive great blessings. I enjoyed your post and I loved knowing what your lifestyle is like. Regards @millycf1976
Yes, blessings come in various forms when you least expect them. It's good when we realise and appreciate them.
Thanks for stopping by:)))
It's true that what we become in life, or what becomes our passions didn't just start but had been rooted from childhood. It's inspiring to see that your little coffee shop dream has become not so little after all and people have poured out their hearts and coffee based stories through this community. I absolutely love how well you've lived simply and truthfully and it's nothing other than bigger successes form here on.🤗
WoW! Thanks for your sweet, thoughtful comment.😊
Yes, every day when I think about my life, from my childhood days till now, I smile to see how everything falls into place, and so much makes sense to me now.
Regardless of whatever uncertainties I have in my life and all the rough phases that I go through, I still have hope and will forever trust the process of my life:)))
I know how that feels... you'll say to yourself "oh,this is why this happened so that this other thing would happen."
I'm glad to be a beneficiary. Experiencing and living through these dreams of yours in my own little way. Cheers.💞
It's a pleasure to have you in the community, and thanks for your engagement and kind words. 💕
This is so beautiful. I like that you're living a minimalist kind of lifestyle which is honestly the best kind. Taking us back to how it all started was an amazing thing to do. This article is an evidence of your gratitude for how far you've come and a declaration of how far you're still going.
Ps: I also used to compare the proximity of my location to other places around the world. This was because of my tender love for exploring and touring😅.
Thank you 😊 I'm happy you connected with the premise of my story:)
Life unfolds in mysterious ways. I'm thankful during the highs and lows of life.
Yeah, I wasn't a big reader, but there wasn't a day when I was not perusing my atlas daydreaming:)))
A positive attitude towards life❣️
I do hope that your dreams are steadily becoming a reality. It would be an amazing feeling.
Yes, my dreams have been and continue to be realised. It's even more possible and fun with a minimalist and simple life mindset:)
You can say that again.
Have a beautiful day Milly dear.
Hi Milly your life and experiences are educating... Keep the simple living and always fine happiness wherever it may be found
Thank you😊
Indeed! That's my plan.
Thanks for stopping by:)
You are always welcome. Youve got so much positive vibe😊
This is one of my favorite communities on Hive, top 3 for sure, and I love posting and interacting here.
Talking with coffee lovers from all around the world, learning more about the different types of coffees, getting to know about the members and their favorite cafes from the many different countries.
I say the idea of having a digital coffee shop is amazing, no matter where you are, as long as you have an internet connection, then you can always join in for a cuppa and chat. 🖤☕️
I'm happy to hear that you hold the community in high regard. It's always a pleasure interacting with you. You are the kind of customer that I'd have liked to be a regular in my coffee shop. I love the eclectic mix of people that I have in the community from all walks of life.
I much prefer having this coffee shop virtually and having everyone pop by with their treats than for me having to source and deal with suppliers 😆
It's a virtual world:)))
Same here, Milly, same here. ☕️
I really do wish that I was a regular, but for now I'm running on a budget. So, I'm saving up for now, as I really struggle to hold down the desire of wanting to get coffee every day. 😬
I wouldn't mind going that route either. A virtual world sometimes can just be the "better" world, it's a bit less hectic, and a lot more fun. 😂
Yeah, I think it's smart to cut back on coffee shop outings in these hard times. I certainly do. It's more affordable for me to be creative with the coffee I make at home:)
I'm being creative right now, as I try out new experiments with my Davidoff Coffee. I tried UHT milk this time, instead of powdered full cream milk and the usual creamer, and so far what I've understood is that cream is the one and only option for this type of strong "premium" coffee.
I think I'll make a post about my coffee experiments, it should be quite helpful.
Yeah, it would be great to hear what you have to say. Let's hope you don't get too much bashing for your Instant Coffee dilemma 😆
Instant coffee is my savior for now, at least until I finish this jar of coffee. 😬
😁I get ya! Enjoy it:)
OH YEAHHH!
I'm gonna brew my 2nd cup now. I need an afternoon pick-me-up.😋
Just finished mine, it's 9PM here, the perfect time for a cup of coffee? YES, is the only answer, I'd say. ☕️✨
Ah, you're in the future
I don't see why not. ☕️
Yes, and here's a message, instant coffee is better than no coffee. 😂
Yeah, I can't fault you for that at all.
I'm just being a coffee snob.
In the Uk, whenever you visit someone's house and they offer you coffee, more than likely it's gonna be instant coffee.😆
So I always go for tea.
I love some milk tea, even green tea, just depends on my mood. Sometimes no beverages at all. I always mix it up, don't wanna get addicted. 😬
That's a good way.
Right now I alternate between coffee and rooibos tea.
Rooibos tea is red tea right? The herbal kind. We call it "laal chaa", which means red tea in Bangla. It's another popular hot beverage in our country, one that goes side by side with milk tea. Coffee probably comes in third or fourth place over here. 😂
It's a South African tea. It might be reddish in colour, but it's different from red tea. There's also the Hibiscus tea that's red.
Jamaicans love their teas too. Coffee would probably come third there😆
Well, it looks like both our journeys probably started with tea, and then we decided to move to Team Coffee later on. 😬
Yes, that's so it seems. I was a late starter with tea though. I only started having a variety of teas in my early twenties.
I was probably guzzling tea from the age of 4 or 5, thanks to my grandmother. Back then I surely was addicted to milk tea, I have no doubts about that. 😂
Haha! It would have been the same if it was up to my parents. Tea was always forced:)
Spilling the tea. 😏🍵
Oh, I have been there, done that many times;)
We've all been there, even I, a man, can confirm it. 😂
https://uk.yahoo.com/finance/shoppers-disbelief-over-9-instant-115438800.html
I just saw that news on yahoo. That's disgusting! So wrong!
Prices are increasing over here too, especially the most available option, which is Nescafe.
The Classic blend 200gm costs around $4 USD right now, it used to be about half of that. The Original blend of 200gm right now is hovering around $8 USD, it used to be around $6.
The good news, is that Davidoff's Coffee has actually decreased in price in our country, a nice drop of a dollar or so.
That's appalling. I could buy decent ground coffee in the Philippines for about $4.00. Filipinos tend to drink the 3-in-1 instant coffee though.
I know, it's absurd, but sadly, around this region people aren't used to having proper ground coffee. That is why the markets can be manipulated, yet, people will still buy what they need or want, the price tag doesn't matter to some.
This is something I really don't like, I hate the 3 in 1, 2 in 1 types of coffee. The aftertaste is horrendous. Ehhh!
Yeah, I really hate that kind of coffee too. When I lived in the Philippines, I always purchased some of that kind, just to give my Filipino friends when they came to visit. They never appreciated an espresso coffee. They thought it was not a boiling hot as the Instant Coffee. 😆
If I'm ever "lucky" enough to be in the UK, then I'll surely pay you a visit, you can then serve me as much espresso you want. 😂
Love me some good ole espresso. ☕️
Haha! it would be my pleasure:))
🖤
Thank you my dear @millycf1976, for letting us know this part of your life, sometimes we don't like to talk about this very personal part of our lives.
Let me tell you that you lead a very attractive simple life, you don't focus on the complicated things in life and you live carefree.
Thank you for being such a dreamer and for founding this great community where we all share our common interest in coffee and above all we move to those places wherever they are through your illustrations.
Greetings and may we continue to grow
Note: I value the interaction that you do in the community, you dedicate your valuable time in reading and commenting on each writing and there are few administrators that take this arduous work seriously. A thousand congratulations
Thanks for your lovely comment. I think engagement is great, and I treat Cinnamon Cup Coffee like a real coffee shop. It wouldn't be nice to enter a shop continuously and not be acknowledged at all. It would make me not return.
I thank you for being a part to the community:)))
Wow, how cool those tastes for geography, history, among others. The best thing is that you have managed to know and learn different cultures, just as you wanted.
I love your virtual coffee shop and it is a good way to fulfill that dream and even in a simpler way.
Your words are motivating, I also enjoy the simplicity of life and I have learned to let go of the past and strive for a better future.
Hey @lisrl26
Thanks for your lovely comment.
Yes, I am happy with the way my life has been going in terms of exploring and discovering the world and learning about history. I have to admit, that I'm quite happy with the virtual coffee shop instead of being bound to a specific location to tend to one.
Thanks for being active in the community:)))
Having simple things and living in simple ways is the best life or the ideal life for me. Many people didn't understand about this and for those who did, it will bring peace and satisfaction in life.
That's very true, indeed!
Simplicity does lead to inner happiness:)
If all people would have this kind of mindset, many will be happy.
But it is also part of our human nature to wish for the things that we don't have but when we start to appreciate little things that we have, it will bring happiness.
Well said! I see that on so many levels, and in so many areas:)
Congratulations Milly, not only for your achievements, but also for your simplicity in life.
I thank the Universe that you have decided to set up your virtual coffee shop, otherwise I would never have met you, nor would I be sharing my coffee experiences with all the wonderful audience that follows you.
I wish you to continue fulfilling your dreams. A hug from the distance, Venezuela.👐☕️💕
Thanks for your lovely and thoughtful message Tibi 😊
You and all the other members make my dream come true. Things could not have worked out better for me.
I appreciate your kindness 💞
😍❤️🤗

I hope you dream of making the coffee shop will be fulfilled soon best of luck & my best wishes and prays are with you.
Hehe! I thought that your profile photo and name looked familiar. 😁
For now, I'm really enjoying this virtual coffee shop experience, which allows me to be anywhere in the world I want to be while meeting and interacting with like-minded individuals:)
Thank you 😊
