Free-will as also a car synonym of Freedom

A few days ago, I wrote about a person, a collab of mine, who has made an important growth relative to his own time management; today I report a small anecdote that happened to a friend of mine.

The incident

Last Sunday, he was driving back on the highway and at a certain moment he experienced a malfunction in the cooling system; he stops and sees that there is no water in the expansion tank.

He refills and resumes the return trip. From time to time he stops to check the level. During a break to check, he notices that there is a coolant leak; he leans over and sees that it is clearly dripping (copiously) from the water pump.

The situation was not the best...

Without too much apprehension, but with some alertness, he manages to get home without any problems whatsoever to the vehicle.

The solution

The next day he calls the mechanic to do the work and arranges to have the vehicle delivered a few minutes later. Once at the workshop, they do the necessary checks and the response is that the water pump has problems (I figured the response was right because this friend is quite knowledgeable about mechanics!).

He leaves the van with a request to have it back within 4 days because he needed it to do other services.

After a couple of days, my friend, contacts the mechanic and...SURPRISE: in addition to the water pump, the mechanic also replaces the power steering pump; but the surprise does not end there, the power steering hose also has some leakage problems.

Whereupon my friend says to stop and do the only work the mechanic had already taken the parts for.

The painful notes were the rather large bill because of the spare parts.

Now this example to emphasize how important it is to have choice.

Well it is primarily a matter of choice.

Regardless of the professionalism of the mechanic, it was in his power to GIVE my friend a choice: with a 2-minute phone call.

All it took in the phone call was four words where he explained that it would be good to change the steering pump as well, and my friend would decide whether or not to proceed, also depending on the cost.

He would have a choice.

Choosing, not knowing how to choose, we will talk about that later, is of utmost importance in order to be able to organize our time, our commitments and everything that revolves around us.

A line from "The Devil Wears Prada" comes to mind:

One always has a choice

It's true, even when we say "I had no choice," that's not really the case; we could have chosen the opposite, but we quickly did an R/R (risk/reward ratio) and chose the least invasive option.

My friend also had the choice, albeit not exactly orthodox and not in line with his way of thinking: he could simply tell the mechanic to proceed only and exclusively with the replacement of the water pump and to hold off on the power steering pump.

The purchased replacement, without authorization, would have been a problem for mechanic to solve.

Obviously, with the choice he (didn't) make, because he was faced with a fait accompli, he prioritized road safety.

Every day life presents us with choices, and now comes the second aspect of choice: is it the right one?

On average, if the choices are guided by a person's experience and also by a bit of sixth sense, we are sure that the choice made is 100% the right one.

One clarification: what we consider "sixth sense," we are not bothering mediums, but unconsciously our brain can associate certain situations and it sets off alarm bells.

That is why I say that the Free-will can be interpreted as a synonym for freedom!

Greetings friend, thank you for sharing your anecdote and reflections here, however I invite you to read the description of the community and also we value the original photographs to verify that the story is real, for a future you can do it.

If you have the car, damage and solution, you can photograph it!

You are right. This article came up as a hybrid (and not the vehicles, lol) so I thought it was more appropriate for here. Thanks for the reminder. Will pay more attention the next times

That is why I say that the Free-will can be interpreted as a synonym for freedom!

Sadly, some people can't handle this responsibility.
