My Stress Coping Mechanism And How I Avoid Stress

Over time I have understood that avoiding stress isn't possible, because life itself is full of so many encounters no matter how far or rich we are, there will always be one thing or experience that stresses us mentally or physically just that some other people's stress might seem heavier than ours which I see as normal in life.

Personally, I believe stress is not a bad factor, but rather the way the body responds to things that it is already weak at or has probably grown tired of. We can't escape stress the same way we can't avoid it, but we can try our best to manage it. Our response to it will determine our health and life. Life in Lagos Nigeria as a career person is a lot of stress that we are all gonna encounter especially in traffic and also engaging in a 9-5 jobs everyday, but I did not allow it to break me down because I try my best to amend myself towards it, I personally have and understand myself to develop a coping mechanism in response to this stress around me.

Some of my coping mechanisms in response to stress are:

  1. Listen to music: This has always been my therapy or stress. Honestly, I find good music so relieving to listen to to relieve stress. Sometimes music is not only about being happy but also about helping us feel alive and relieving our minds of stress factors around us.

  2. Avoiding stress: I also try to stay away from anything that may stress me more, because even life itself is a stress on its own, and the truth is no matter how far you avoid it, we will still experience it but avoiding it will help limit it cause around us even though it's fukky unavoidable but inimitable.

  3. Talk to a Friend: This has to be one of the best ways to stay focused and alive, being alone with nobody to rely on or talk to can be a really big problem for anyone, although it helps aid focus but sometimes the weight of the world can be relieve heavy burden of stress on the mind. Having a good friend is really important, honestly. It's not easy to cope with stress alone, because it can lead to depression or anxiety.

Life itself comes with a lot of encounters and pressure, and it's not as easy as it seems. This is why I will advise anyone to understand themself better and know their favourite coping mechanism for things around us because the pressure and pain outside can be really overwhelming when we fail to understand ourselves better.

Having this coping mechanism and a simple plan helps to reduce confusion and chaos around us that may lead to serious stress symptoms. If we fail to understand ourselves better, then it may lead to depression or pressure from people around us, and I have also noticed most stress comes from looking at other people's timelines or lifestyle but understanding myself have made me understand that life is not a competition but a personal journey we must follow through.

This is my entry to Hive learners Weekly prompt, week 189 episode 2.
