On January 6th of every year, Epiphany is another day of the Christian religion. There is one more story about the day of Epiphany: Befana.

  • 🧙🏻‍♀️ Befana is a widespread Illian tradition. And it's an Italian holiday. Befana is an old woman who comes to give gifts to children all over Italy on Epiphany Eve, the night of January 5th, which is a story similar to the story of Santa Claus.
  • 🍭 The local legend is that Befana would visit the house of every child in Italy celebrating the Epiphany to fill their stockings with sweets and gifts. If any child is a good child, he or she will get to eat white candy. But if you're a bad kid, you'll get coal or dark candy.

  • 🍬 Befana and the familiar sight are more like a witch wearing a hat and a black cloak who will come along the chimneys of the children's houses. Befana will be smiling and holding a bag filled with both gifts and sweets.
