We can say that if a person is deprived of the internet, they will be isolated from the rest of the world, since connections between people occur more in the digital environment than in person.

The main means of communication and information today are virtual, and basic day-to-day activities depend on the internet, such as making appointments, paying bills or studying. How could a person be without access to these resources? Of course, there are other ways to carry out these activities, but imagine having to travel from home to a doctor's office just to schedule an appointment, and this could be done with a few clicks. So it's not just a question of being deprived of something essential, but also the loss of resources that make people's lives easier.

As well as being a facilitator, it is through the internet that people can exercise essential rights, such as freedom of expression and access to education. If memory serves me right, a few years ago there was a debate on this topic, in which it was argued that access to the internet is fundamental to guaranteeing freedom of expression. However, it's not just about exercising a right, the internet also promotes digital inclusion and contributes to reducing social inequality, as it allows greater access to education and opportunities to thrive more independently, without relying exclusively on government initiatives.

Of course, guaranteeing universal access to the internet is an expensive and complex challenge, especially in rural or hard-to-reach areas. However, with the advance of technology, these barriers tend to gradually diminish, making access more viable and affordable. The most important thing is not to neglect this need, nor fail to plan the necessary infrastructure to make it a reality. Just as the supply of electricity and other essential services still faces challenges in many regions, so too will the internet. But even so, this does not diminish its importance as a fundamental right to be consolidated.

Perhaps the world is already ready to consider the internet a fundamental right for everyone. After all, we live in an age in which almost everything is connected to digital needs, and it has already become clear how much more practical and accessible it makes people's lives. But it is essential to rethink not only access, but also the way we use this technology. New educational approaches must be considered to promote more conscious use, as well as raising awareness of security and privacy issues. The future is digital, and ensuring that everyone can be part of it, in a safe and informed way, is a fundamental step towards a fairer and more inclusive society.

Os principais meios de comunicação e informação atualmente são virtuais, e as atividades básicas do dia a dia dependem da internet, como agendar consultas, pagar contas ou estudar. Como uma pessoa ficaria sem acesso a esses recursos? Claro, existem outros meios para realizar essas atividades, mas imagine ter que se deslocar de casa até um consultório apenas para agendar uma consulta, sendo que isso poderia ser feito com alguns cliques. Portanto, não se trata apenas de uma questão de privação de algo essencial, mas também da perda de recursos que facilitam a vida das pessoas.

Além de ser um facilitador, é por meio da internet que as pessoas podem exercer direitos essenciais, como a liberdade de expressão e o acesso à educação. Se não me falha a memória, há alguns anos houve um debate sobre esse tema, no qual se discutiu que o acesso à internet é fundamental para garantir a liberdade de expressão. Porém, não se trata apenas de exercer um direito, a internet também promove a inclusão digital e contribui para a redução da desigualdade social, já que permite maior acesso à educação e oportunidades de prosperar de forma mais independente, sem depender exclusivamente de iniciativas governamentais.

É claro que garantir o acesso universal à internet é um desafio caro e complexo, especialmente em áreas rurais ou de difícil alcance. Porém, com o avanço da tecnologia, essas barreiras tendem a diminuir gradualmente, tornando o acesso mais viável e economicamente acessível. O mais importante é não negligenciar essa necessidade, nem deixar de planejar a infraestrutura necessária para torná-la uma realidade. Assim como o fornecimento de energia elétrica e outros serviços essenciais ainda enfrenta desafios em diversas regiões, o mesmo ocorrerá com a internet. Mas ainda assim, isso não diminui sua importância como um direito fundamental a ser consolidado.

Talvez o mundo já esteja pronto para considerar a internet um direito fundamental de todos. Afinal, vivemos em uma era em que quase tudo está conectado a necessidades digitais, e já ficou claro o quanto ela torna a vida das pessoas mais prática e acessível. Mas é essencial repensar não apenas o acesso, mas também a forma como utilizamos essa tecnologia. Novas abordagens educacionais devem ser consideradas para promover um uso mais consciente, além de conscientizar sobre questões de segurança e privacidade. O futuro é digital, e garantir que todos possam fazer parte dele, de forma segura e informada, é um passo fundamental para uma sociedade mais justa e inclusiva.
