If education is so important, why not reward those who excel during their educational journey?

Financial incentives are a great way of rewarding those who stand out. In this way, those who are committed to being the best will benefit more from their effort and dedication. This can have a significant impact on the life of a committed student, who can use this financial reward to obtain better materials or even invest in courses. Rewarding the best students is an efficient way of distributing resources, as it is a great indicator that the outstanding student knows exactly what direction to take in life, and having financial support will be a lever to achieve other forms of educational qualification.

This kind of bonus would have an even greater impact when we look at public schools, where a large proportion of students come from families with lower purchasing power and who can't afford to pay for qualifications. This would be something incredible in the lives of many students and an opportunity to change the story of an entire family. We know that many people want to become professional and study to the point of being competitive, but the financial situation is a major barrier. With the possibility of a reward, many students could open doors that have always been out of their reach.

As well as benefiting the best students, a reward for excelling would be a great influence on everyone in the class and the school to be more participative and committed. There is no doubt that the level of quality in classrooms would be much higher with incentives like this. This would have a huge impact in the long term, because over time a culture of striving for learning would be established, where competitiveness is an ingredient that makes people strive and want to be better every day. Knowing that there is a pot of gold at the end of a journey or cycle, the level of commitment would increase over the years. The big point for changes like this is in the mindset, where people would see the merit in trying to stand out and be not just better than their classmates, but better than themselves every day.

There are many ideas of how educational projects like these can be implemented. I myself have witnessed similar ones a few years ago, and I don't even know if they exist anymore. However, I would try to create a system in which the top three in each class would earn an amount of reward proportional to their position. I'd divide another smaller amount of the reward proportional to individual grades and then a bonus for the best in the school and even another for the best grades in the state, why not? That way, I'd expand the opportunities a little even for those who didn't do so well, but who, when looking at the top positions, would want to try a little harder to earn a better reward. I believe that this would be a good form of distribution and that it would reward those who have put more effort into their studies, while also encouraging those who have fallen a little behind.

Educational projects can have a huge influence on people's lives, and investing in education is investing in the future of a country. Education is the key to unlocking the potential that people possess and, when stimulated in different ways, especially financially, it fosters the growth of individuals, which has great impacts on a country. A strong education system must be accessible and stimulating, as it is a fundamental pillar, perhaps the most important. If there is a possibility of improving and helping people to prosper and evolve, it should be done. A reward for merit is something fair that should be implemented and would have great consequences.

Existem muitas ideias de como projetos educacionais como esses podem ser implementados. Eu mesmo já presenciei alguns parecidos alguns anos atrás, que nem sei se existem mais. Porém, eu tentaria criar um sistema em que os três primeiros de cada turma ganhariam uma quantidade de recompensa proporcional à sua posição. Dividiria uma outra quantidade menor da recompensa proporcional às notas individuais e depois um bônus para os melhores do colégio e até mesmo outro para as melhores notas do estado, por que não? Dessa forma, ampliaria um pouco as oportunidades mesmo para aqueles que não foram tão bem, mas que, ao olharem para as primeiras posições, iriam querer se esforçar um pouco mais para ganhar uma melhor recompensa. Acredito que essa seria uma boa forma de distribuição e que recompensaria bem aqueles que se esforçaram mais nos estudos mas sem deixar de estimular também aqueles que ficaram um pouco para trás.

Projetos educacionais podem ter uma grande influência na vida das pessoas, e investir na educação é investir no futuro de um país. A educação é a chave para desbloquear o potencial que as pessoas possuem e, quando estimuladas de diferentes formas, principalmente financeiramente, fomenta o crescimento dos indivíduos, o que tem grandes impactos em um país.
