Libraries have always been important to humanity, and giving them up would be like throwing away all the history we have built, all the culture and our safe wisdom.

We may think that there is a certain amount of public spending to maintain them and that these resources could be directed to other sectors, and you could even say “more important sectors”, but no, we shouldn't do that. I think we should invest even more in their structures and create projects that encourage people to go to them. This store of knowledge is part of who we are, and we should never give up this accessibility.

Libraries represent democratic access to knowledge. Even in the most inhospitable places there is a library, however simple. And not everyone has access to technology and the internet, so could we deprive them of this opportunity? In addition, many libraries function as cultural community centers, offering events, courses, lectures and study spaces. They promote culture and knowledge in a way that is accessible to everyone. Finally, they are also a way of encouraging reading. Many people had their first contact with books in a library, they are almost a tradition of access to knowledge.

Yes, we are living in a technological age that is increasingly present in our lives, but that doesn't mean we should give up one of humanity's greatest symbols of knowledge.
