No-Buy Sat Stacking

I put together this little guide for friends on how I "stack sats," and figured I'd share it more broadly for anyone interested.

A satoshi (or "sat") is 1,000,000th of a Bitcoin, or a 21,000,000,000,000th of all the Bitcoin that will ever exist.

Bitcoin uses its own network to transfer Bitcoin around, and those transaction fees can be costly. Bitcoin Lightning is an adjacent network where fees are much less, because people are generally working with "satoshi" amounts of money, not "Bitcoin" amounts of money.

Bitcoin, whether normal or Lightning, is stored an a "wallet": an app where you get a unique address people can use to send you money, and which you can use to send other people money.

There are also Android apps which will pay you satoshi for doing check-ins, watching ads, or doing other tasks.

This is a short guide on how I use some of those apps to stack satoshi, without buying them: I just spend a bit of my time. I don't do surveys or play many games, even though some apps include those. I mostly just let my phone play ads in the background when I'm doing dishes or cooking.

Everything I mention here is something I actually do, most days, and never had a payout issue. I've used referral links where I can, so I might benefit from you signing up and using these services.

App List

Ember

Ember has a daily check-in (that requires watching an ad), but has the highest payout of any single app. It also has the best referral program; if you install one of these, make it this one. Unlike the other apps listed here, Ember pays out on the main Bitcoin network, so you'll need a "real" Bitcoin wallet. Coinbase is one of the easiest to get started with, especially if you plan on buying any crypto down the line.

ZBD

ZBD is one of the more popular wallets for using Bitcoin Lightning.

It has a daily poll where, once you're on a four-day streak or longer, starts rewarding sats.

Bitcoin Cloud Mining (#1)

There's a couple "Bitcoin Cloud Mining" apps available on the Play Store. While you can rent cloud mining services from them, from my perspective, they're ad-miners. Watch an ad, get some small amount of satoshi. I should emphasize how small the amount of satoshi is - I wouldn't do this if it weren't easy to walk away from the ad, come back in a minute, click x, and do it again.

This app has a daily check-in, and lets you watch a limited number of ads in a day. It's not first on my list for any reason other than it's first on my phone.

Real simple: open the app, click checkin, close it. Come back later to watch ads if you want.

Bitcoin Cloud Mining (#2)

Same as above, but with an additional free check-in every 8 hours, and you can watch unlimited ads in a day. The more you use it, the greater your "loyalty multiplier," increasing earnings from any activity.

BitTycoon

Works the same as the above, except your daily check-in requires watching an ad, and you can only watch ~15 ads a day.

Speed

Speed doesn't have a consistent mechanism for earning satoshi, but it does offer rewards when you send Bitcoin, and lets you send them to main Bitcoin addresses. This means that you can consolidate your earnings into that Coinbase wallet, over time.

Conclusion

By cycling through these apps and letting two minutes of ads play while I pointedly do other things, I get more than 160+ satoshi a day - ignoring any bonus I get from referrals. A lot of that comes from just two sources, Ember and Bitcoin Miner, but I do find the others worth it to participate in.
