Forgiveness is a commandment from God. Just like every other commandment, we are to obey it. We must obey the commandments of God if we are truly His followers. The disciples of Jesus Christ are those who obey His commandments. The Bible teaches us that we are his disciples when we obey his commandments. Meaning that those who do not obey his commandments are not his disciples.

Forgiveness is also a commandment of God. We are to forgive those who offend us. There is no way we will be in the world without encountering offenses. Offenses can come anywhere. Our loved ones can offend us. Equally, our enemies can offend us. No matter where the offense comes from, we are commanded by God to always forgive.

Our forgiveness will not be true if we keep remembering the wrong things that people do to us. We should not keep recalling the wrong that has been done unto us. True forgiveness put away the offenses behind him.
