Avoid the things that should be avoided. That is the way to live the true christian life. Avoid the appearances of evil. Anything that looks like evil, stay away from it. Anything that looks sinful, don't do it. Don't give room for suspicion in your life. Keep away from what God frowns at. What the Bible says we should flee, flee.

When we get engaged, we are not doing anything wrong. Trying to study our partner in order to be able to get along isn't bad either. But whatever we are doing we should not give room for the flesh. We should understand that fornication is a sin. Sex outside marriage is sin. So we should manage our relationship and courtship wisely so that we do not fall victim of carnal desires.

It is the commandment of God that we should not give room for people to blame the ministry. We should not make the world to despise the calling of God upon our lives. We should do things that are approved of the gospel and run away from the things that are disapproved.
