Rhythm and Reality; Challenges In The Music Industry

Music is a universal language. It isn't translated by the brain, it's translated by the heart. It is the only thing known to man that can speak to millions of people who have different culture, backgrounds, ethnicity, language and so many more. It is the one thing we are united in. Music is a gift to man.

As beautiful and as magical as music is, there are some challenges that it's industry face. I mean challenges can't be avoided right? Everything made on earth must surely have a flaw and that's just life at its finest. Nothing can be made perfectly.

The first challenge on my list in the music industry is complexity of contracts and royalties. I have been reading origin stories of many artist and the thing they most have in common is this factor.
A nineteen years old boy so eager to have his music heard. He is freshly out of school and has no job, no source of income and only has his guitar strapped around his shoulder. Him and his guitar against the world. Then there comes the sharks who can sniff his naivety and desperation from a mile away. Honestly, I don't blame those artist that finds theirselves in bad contracts (especially the ones who are minors) because at that stage, even they haven't realized how valuable they are.

Another challenge is competition and pressure from following the latest trend. Well I guess even top stars can't run away from this one right? Hahahaha.
The music industry is highly competitive. You want to be a musician, you struggle to be heard by anyone who can lift you. After that you still have to make a good song, after that your song has to fight it's way amongst the millions of music that are being streamed on hundreds of platforms. The journey never seems to end entirely. Even after making a hit, you're expected to make another and another. I can imagine the pressure musicians feel to keep up with their image and to make hits every single year.

The music industry is also a business industry. It takes more than just having a good voice to excel in it. But in the end, there's no guarantee for anything but that shouldn't stop you from trying and going towards your dream. Like the saying goes "good things don't come easy" so give that dream a chance but bear in mind that it's gonna be bumpy at some point or another. But shoot for the moon and if you miss, you hit a star.

The competitiveness in the music industry is unmatched. I give kudos to artists that came out on their own, through a hit song and unique sound.
