Perfect House, Terrible Neighborhood? No Thank You
The rent culture where I school is crazy, the houses are overly expensive, and bad. Why am I renting a house where there's no toilet inside, no kitchen, and no running water? I have to buy water every day and still pay a rent of 200k every year. Now that's what we call modern-day robbery.
It's not the same in town, but since the housing demand is high and students need a place to stay, we have no choice but to pay.
There are many houses everywhere, but looking for the perfect one that suits your taste means you'd have to triple your budget and break the bank. In my part of the country, getting a house is very expensive.
Before renting an apartment, there are certain things I always put into consideration and the first one is the Location.
Trust me, no matter how fine a house is, as long as the location doesn't suit my taste, there's no way I'm renting.
Close to a market in town, there's a very fine building, but the houses surrounding that one house are crazy, it just makes the house look bad. The noise, the gutter, the trash, and just you name it, I'd rather live in an environment where everyone is working and it's clean.
While looking for an apartment to stay in school, there was this one we came across, and the location of this house just made me hate it even tho I knew it was perfect. I love having sweet neighbors, I won't stay in a house where every night cult boys would be chasing me, fighting here and there lol.
The second on my list is: Is the environment flood-free?
I live in the southern part of the country, and we're known for our rich land, fishing, and also flooding, hahaha. Any tiny rain, some compounds get flooded. I don't want to swim in the Jordan River before I can enter my house during the rainy season. So getting a house in a flood-free area is one thing I look for.
Another thing I look out for is the development of the place. I know it can be peaceful sometimes, but renting a house in an underdeveloped place can be very bad. Like now I'm suffering from a bad network because of that choice. My neighbors use wifi, but nope, the network is still terrible. Pls take me to a town where there's a stable network, but a compound that's still serene and clean.

Last but not least on my list is that the house must have an active running water system inside the house. The bathroom must be Tiled and have all the necessary things a bathroom should have, the kitchen must be spacious and have counters and a sink, there should be a wardrobe space, and most of all, there should be a corridor and enough windows. Most houses where I school have just one window and I hate it. And also the room should be spacious and large. Just in general, the whole house should be spacious.
Hey! Don't tell anyone what I'm about to say, but the design of tiles used in a house also matters a lot. Trust me when I say a house can be a 10/10, and the tile can make me not want to rent it lol.
Thanks for stopping by❤️🤗

The last thing that I want for an apartment is if it's getting flooded, as not only do I need to worry about my gadgets being wet, it is also prone to leptospirosis, especially if the area has poor sanitation.
