This story is about the ascension of a deity. In our time it is Jesus. if China did not become a communist state, maybe it could be Buddha. But I think safe to say Jesus is currently the most influential god figure of our time.

But back then when the Greeks ruled the world, Zeus with his lightning bolt and his family were the ruling gods. Okay, the Greeks may not have ruled the world but back then that was a major conquest. Also their cultural influence was felt over 1000 years after the last Mycenean King.

Then the Romans ruled the known world for over 2000 years because they revolutionized military tactics. The Romans had Jupiter as the godhead figure. So many temples were built for different Roman gods before Constantine adopted Christianity.

Of course there are other major religions like Islam and Hinduism aside from Christianity. Even local tribes have their own religion.

Not really wanting to delve on who is the dominant religion, the story is just a take on how gods can ascend the heavenly throne.

I just said every 2000 years, but the Egyptians reigned for 3000 years more or less.

My point in fact is just that a God's existence depends largely as long as they have followers. Thats why when a dominant power takes over, the culture of that dominant race will prevail. Along with the conquest is the spread of their religion.

My theory is that a god figure's popularity depends on how fast it is spread and on the number of followers it can amass.
