Do Not Destroy The Skin Unintentionally
A lot of us treat our skins like we do not need them and this might be because it is one we can see and in the process on wanting to make it look good, we tend to do a lot of harm to it. So many of us see the skin for the cosmetic part of it, we forget to understand that it is more than that and the skin needs respect.
Far beyond cosmetic, the skin is the first defense layer of the body. We can say it is the internal organ firewall for pathogens, and dirt from entering into the body. This is why it is regarded as a barrier immunity because it is the defense barrier for the body. Now that you know that, you just need to be careful the next time you decide to put a hole in your body in the name of fashion which could be a negative thing if pathogens get into it.
Asides from being a goal keeper that prevents bad boys from getting into the body, the skin is also vital for the controlling of body heat. The body does so by sweating when there is excessive heat and the hair rising and shivering when there is cold. In doing so, the skin tries not to overheat or freeze the internal organ respectively.
The skin also serves as a alarm for the body where the nerves on the skin picks up signal of hurt which quickly tells the body there is danger. If you put your hands close to fire, the heat receptors quickly pick up this signal and sends it to the brain so as to tell the person that the place it is putting its hand in is a dangerous place.
Another area where the skin function is to help get vitamin D from the sunlight which is a vitamin that is important and useful to the immune system, the bone, and other parts of the body. While I say the skin helps you to get vitamin D from the sun, I am not saying you should go burn yourself up under the sun. If you are going under the sun, please use a sunscreen.
If there is a medical issue, I mean your internal body needs repair from a medical practitioner, the first part of the body tell you is the skin. The skin mirrors what is happening to the internal organ which can display as dryness, patches, rashes, acne, pimple, and color change.
When you bleach, scrub excessively, use different mixtures of cream that you do not even know the source, then you are the problem or let me say the weapon fashioned against yourself. In Nigeria, we are so use to bleaching that I barely find 2 out of 5 people that do not bleach but when these people bleach, they do so without understanding the consequences of their action which includes thinning of the skin, burning of the skin, stretch marks over time, improper healing of the skin which can be a problem during surgery.
Scrubbing is another problem that people create for their skins without knowing that they are causing more harm for themselves. When you exfoliate your skin too much, you just cause your skin to be irritated and it dries it out making the skin to be more sensitive instead of protecting the body.
