The Ups & Downs On The Hive Blockchain

I was chatting with a friend recently about Hive, he has been on Hive for a while and stopped being active although he plans to come back stronger that is to be more active but he said something that I couldn't disagree with... Hive is a lot more complex and harder to navigate compared to other systems one has been on.

This is true for many newbies who are finding their way around, I didn't had much difficulty to explore the blockchain when I first joined but I'm guessing it had to do with my foundation before I joined Hive and I had the best guide in an old Hiver who introduced me to Hive.

The Bad of Hive

Hive is a system built on a blockchain and it is very much about crypto, tech and complexity and so anyone deciding to get active here should be prepared for Hive has in store for them. I would tell friends that it is the complexity or too techy about Hive that makes it different from the other platforms they've been on.

But to be honest, that is a down for Hive... The complexity or "hard to navigate" side of Hive for newbies is pushing people away. I know different teams in the different frontends are trying their best to make it easier for anyone just joining to navigate through but we can't disagree that it is going to be a bit difficult to bring Hive to a simplest form.

We can only hope more people embrace crypto, complexity and tech in other ecosystems before they find Hive so they could enjoy their time here learning the best sides of Hive.

Another downside on the Hive blockchain is, Hive isn't exploring enough the outside of Hive to bring more users to the blockchain. We've found something great and all that but it seem like a whole lot of others are yet to find what we've found. I still see people addicted to Web2 platforms, I see people struggling to pay tiny bills and I see people jobless with no hope of what to do for a living... Hive can be of help but the outreach efforts do not seem to be enough.

I wanted to add "Downvotes on Hive" as a downside but looking at it more closely, I think it has been of help in keeping some acts that aren't welcomed on the blockchain away. Of course, nothing is perfect and I know there are big issues with this downvoting actions but I know with time, it will get better.

The Good of Hive

If I want to start counting out the good sides of Hive, a post won't be enough for it and my memory may even fail me. For someone who has been on the blockchain for more than three years, any oldie can tell that she found something great and better to still be here and you're right about that!

The influence Hive has one's offline life, the improvements one experiences being on Hive and the connection one builds both in and off Hive... All these are enough good sides of Hive to be here for if one is active and enjoy being here.

Hive has proven to help myself and a lot of others out of debts, prepare for unforseen circumstances and also open our eyes to the world of investments and possible financial freedom. Aside the monetary aspect, Hive has taught it's users a lot of things that some like myself would never had wanted to learn.

One of those things I've learned just from being active on the blockchain is, "coding and creative writing". I may not be the best out there or yet but I'm way better than many who are yet to find Hive. I was creating a content sometime ago in the presence of a friend and he was so impressed with the way I understand the codes that translate to my post in preview.

I didn't think I was doing anything special when creating a content on Hive until that day and I've been grateful to Hive about it. Let me not even start talking about the photography spirit Hive woke in me and the zeal to grow financially so I could be of more help to people around... Hive has been the best platform so far for me.

Concluding...

My only suggestion is that Hive should try introducing the recent developments other coins are doing, organize big games or something of sort to draw in both great investors and starters to know Hive and come join in. Hive has a lot to offer but it seem as though the offer is too great for the number that has found it.

This is my entry to the June Inleo Prompt Challenge with Day 11 focus on "Good and bad of Hive" and also participating for the Loving Hive Initiative. Don't know what to write on Hive today? You're invited to participate.

I have been here on hive for just some weeks now, but i have got to realise and be aware of the fact that it's not easy it takes alot of commitment and displine to continue giving it all and posting quality contents everyday even after getting as low rewards on a post you spent hours on. The abilty to be consistent is a something tnot just everyone has and that's a major quality to come out on top

It's really not easy but I think it gets easier for whoever finds the fun in being here, good things sometimes do not come easy hehe.

Hive is a little bit complex for a beginner but every good things are a little bit complex and that's the reality. Think about education, it not easy and to receive the results of education we need to wait at least 10+ years. So who don't have patience should not come in hive. I think in the current time newbies are getting huge attention compared to past time. If it's not enough then I think Hive is not for them.

My thought too, the recent newbies I've encounter seem to lack what it really takes to be on Hive. They want it easy when it isn't supposed to be so.

Hive is a lot more complex and harder to navigate compared to other systems one has been on.

And yet the very basic any user needs to know is super-simple: Blog about things you relate to and engage with content you like.

Then, months, or even years later, you can start bothering about DHF, witnesses, L2 tokens or anything else :)

You know! That's really correct, a lot of newbies I've come across seem to want to know everything at once and end up losing interest in staying 🥲

Well, if you want to know everything, then you read the Whitepapers (both Steem and Hive), and then you perhaps google several things and you're done. Unless you wanted to run your own node, or even a witness server. How long does this take? Two hours?

It is not that complex that you would have to spend months studying the principles, formulas and so.

That's true, the ones I've encountered seem to find everything complex to them even how to create a post and some go on about not getting support when they are not ready to put in the work for that.

Hive & this platform particularly really helped so many people in number of ways like it opened door for content writers and also for content creators( as threespeak). It ignited spark in creative minds.
I am thankful to hive. Still, there are many backdrops of hive like complexity to learn and all others which you mentioned.

Hive is really a nice place to be, despite the ups and downs as you've mentioned.
From all you've said, I can see that you've not only been in hive for a while, you have impacted lives and must surely make friends. Great one friend.
Enjoy your weekend as you celebrate our Fathers.

You are very right about the negative points, especially something that you overlooked, which is how difficult it is to create an account, which is why it is increasingly difficult to get new users.

Yeah, that too
A lot of users can't get in without a close help from an old user.

Yes, Hive good side are complex, but for newbies, it's somehow hard for some of them to stay on the platform, but I think, the mentor needs to keep close contact with the newbie, that way the person would finds Hive nice to stay.
Joining hive is nice when we hard a mentor that's for sure.

That's right but it's not going to be easy to keep a not stressful contact with a newbie for the actual busy oldies who are mentors.
